May 19, 1923 — June 19, 2019

In Loving Memory

On June 19, 2019 Norma Hunter Riska was reunited with her sweetheart. She was born on May 19, 1923 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Joseph Franklin and Josephine Nicolene Larson Hunter. She was the youngest of 11 children.

Norma grew up in American Fork, Utah, graduating from American Fork High. She attended LDS Business College. On February 20, 1943 she married her sweetheart LeRoy Drews Riska in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 75 years.

Norma worked for Cooks Ice Cream as a young girl, then after she was married she worked in the office at Camp Roberts while Roy was in the Army. She worked at several chicken hatcheries, then finished her working career at Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah as a counselor, and secretary in the main office.

Norma was active in the LDS Church, serving in positions, including Sunday school teacher and in several Relief Society Presidencies. Norma and Roy served a mission in the Honolulu, Hawaii Mission Office from June 1989 to December 1990.

Norma loved her family, traveling to American Fork each Wednesday and spending the day visiting her older sisters, until they passed away.

Norma is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Nicolene Riska Turnbow and Parley Turnbow. Her Lamanite children, Leonard Butler (JoAnn) and Loretta Butler Harrison. She is preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Drews Riska, and her son, Ryan Hunter Riska. At the time of her passing she had 11 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

Norma would want to thank all of her grandchildren who so lovingly cared for her and would come and just visit with her. She loved those visits very much.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Von Welch for his kindness and loving care, and for all of the wonderful friends, neighbors and relatives who have been so kind to Norma.
