Marilyn Christensen

August 20, 1946 — July 20, 2022

Our precious mother, Marilyn Jayne Christensen, passed away on Wednesday, July 20th, 2022, with her husband, sons, and dearest friend by her side. Those who knew her best knew her as Mother, Grandma, and MJ. Marilyn would have celebrated her 76th birthday next month.

Marilyn was born in Oklahoma City on August 20th, 1946, to Betty and Clarence Newman. She was the oldest of three and enjoyed her childhood with her sister Susan and brother Daniel. Her mother wanted to give Marilyn her middle name, which was Jane, but her father insisted on adding a “y” because she was no “plain Jane”. She always had a special connection with her father and spoke of him often and fondly. Marilyn devoted her life to her family and children when she married in 1972. Being a mother to Eric and Donald Christensen was her greatest joy. She raised her children with love and devotion in Highland, Utah with her husband Kent Christensen. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in September. She was tickled to become a grandmother in 2014 and loved doting on her three sweet grandbabies.

Marilyn was a faith-filled member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was also deeply patriotic and loved her country. Marilyn and her family have been proud to honor their ties to military and law enforcement. She will be sorely missed and is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Kent, and their two sons Eric (Marsha) and Donald (Mallory), as well as her grandchildren Sybil, Ty and Ren all of whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her sister Susan (Jim) and her brother Daniel (Trish).
