Lloyd Coltrin McEwan 1929-2021

Our father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away early Tuesday, November 16, 2021 in Heber, Utah. He was born shortly after his twin brother, Floyd, on February 9, 1929, in Provo, Utah, to Kenneth Eugene McEwan and Mary Coltrin. He was raised with his 10 brothers and sisters in Orem, Utah, near orchards where he loved to play. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He attended Lincoln High School and was soon working with his father before enlisting in the Army.

He was the company electrician, in Germany during the Korean War. He married Barbara Jean Saxey in Provo, Utah, on September 30, 1953. They were blessed with two children, Mary Ellen (Smith) and Michael Lloyd. He was later divorced and married JoAnn Baker on August 3, 1995 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lloyd and Floyd started "The Dover Protection Company after traveling to Michigan to pick up two black Chevies, the patrol cars they used to police the merchant store at night in Provo. He joined the Electric Union and worked at Geneva Steel before moving on to working in the construction business at State Incorporated. This was his passion to be involved as Superintendent of many jobs that evolved to owning many companies with million dollar projects. A few of his businesses included Newberry State, Industrial Management Engineering, Central Industrial Construction, General Equipment Rentals, Lloyd's of Lindon, and Goldfield.

He was a member of the Elks, Alpine and Riverside Country Club. He serviced on the Board of Directors for Alpine Country Club and was President of the Multiple Sclerosis Board for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved golf, hunting, and fishing in Alaska every year. He was a dedicated fan of basketball, football and golf. He followed BYU football and the Utah Jazz closely. He attended many Super Bowls when the Pittsburg Steelers or the Arizona Cardinals were playing.

He enjoyed traveling and spending time at his winter home in Peoria, Arizona. Lloyd lived a full and enriched live with many lifelong friends. He was generous to others, supporting many family members on missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and helping with college tuition.

He is survived by his children, Mary Ellen (Samuel) Smith of Lehi and Michael McEwan of Heber; stepchildren, Shelly (Mike) Anderson, C.F. (Michelle) Baker of Delta; grandchildren, Brandy Wilbur, Jeremy Penrod, McKenzie Empey, and Justice McEwan; 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
