Kent Hilton

June 16, 1930 — February 24, 2021

Lyle Kent Hilton was born 16 June 1930 in Phoenix, Arizona to Lyle Hilton and Isabelle Cardon Hilton. He was blessed with a little sister Gail when he was three. When he was seven his parents divorced. They both remarried and he often said he was twice blessed because of his other-mother Electa and his wonderful dad Alma Moroni Hunt. Alma was a cattle rancher and farmer in the mountains of Arizona and Kent grew up loving the mountains and being a farmer. He graduated from Mesa High School and began a long journey through college, attending University of Arizona, Arizona State University, Brigham Young University, University of California Berkley, and completing his PhD at the University of Utah. He served a two year mission in the Texas Louisiana Mission from 1950-52.

After obtaining his BA at the BYU he served nearly 3 years as a pilot in the Air Force. He married Rochelle Rhead in the Salt Lake Temple and they recently celebrated their 64th anniversary. Upon completion of 13 years in college, his career took him to Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked as a nuclear physicist for EG&G, a company captive to the government testing nuclear devices in the Nevada desert and other related assignments. Kent served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with most emphasis in the Scouting program. He served 7 years as a worker in the new Las Vegas Temple until moving to Alpine, Utah. From there he served three missions with his wife: once in San Francisco and twice to the Salt Lake Family/Church History mission. Recently he served several more years in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.

Kent enjoyed his garden, saying that kept him healthy, and raising children as well as fruit and vegetables. He had a wonderful, interesting career. He was faithful to his family and testimony. He survived cancer. He had a great sense of humor and made friends everywhere. After a long, good life he will join a worthy family in his eternal continuance of choosing the good path.
Kent was preceded in death by his sons David Rhead Hilton and Richard Alma Hilton, his parents, his sisters Gail Wood and Donna Hilton Gardner, brother Dale Clare Hilton, a granddaughter Rachael Neil.

He is survived by his wife, his children, Janelle (Steve) Neil, Paul Kent (Nanette Rasband) Hilton, Natalie (Kurt) Trotter, LaRae (Emil) Lemich, Nathan Rhead (Kirstan Harris) Hilton, 26 grandchildren, 38 great- grandchildren, and brother Steve (Heidi) Hilton.
