July 1, 1935 — April 26, 2020

Pleasant Grove

Karen Hansen Chugg, age 84, peacefully passed away in Pleasant Grove, Utah on the beautiful Spring morning of April 26, 2020.  She was born July 1, 1935 in College Ward, Utah, the daughter of Harvard Wayne Hansen and Edna LaRae Burr.

Karen graduated from South Cache High School in 1953. She married Douglas Rash Chugg, her eternal companion on October 8, 1954 in the Logan Temple.  Their life together was an adventure, filled with trials, joy, travel, and life-long friendships. Central to her life was her faith and continuous activity in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings. She was a temple worker in the Mt. Timpanogos and Manti Temples. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Karen loved music; she sang beautiful harmony parts and had an ear for music and a lovely singing voice. She sang with the Sunset Harmonettes and Utah County Chauntenettes Ladies Chorus and served as the Vice President of the Chauntenettes.

Karen and Doug were members of the BYU Cougar Club and true blue fans rarely missing a home basketball or football game. They were very supportive of their children and grandchildren activities. Karen was a wonderful mother who tried to do everything for her children. She had a great love for animals; all animals had a special spot in her heart. Karen was employed as a switchboard operator at McKay Dee, St. Luke’s and Utah Valley Hospitals.   She worked for Albertson’s headquarters in Boise, Idaho and later at the Utah County Health Department.

Survivors include her children, Kristy (Garry) Young, Marianne Chugg Lindsey, Bonnie (Trey) Mooney, Diane (Norm) Gardner, David (Denise) Chugg, 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and her brother Larry (Lanette) Hansen.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Douglas and son Joel.

Due to COVID-19, private family services will be held.  Burial will be next to her husband and son in the Logan City Cemetery.  Please share a memory or condolence on the obituary tribute wall at www.andersonmortuary.com
