Jessica Walton

June 23, 1997 — December 17, 2020

Our beloved daughter and sister, Jessica Nadine Walton, passed away on December 17, 2020.  She is survived by her parents Kristen and Jason Walton, her sister Laura Walton, and her brother Joshua Walton. She was welcomed to her heavenly home by her brother Kyle Walton. She is dearly beloved and deeply missed by her family and friends.

Jessica was born on June 23, 1997, in Salt Lake City, Utah as the oldest child to Kristen and Jason. Growing up, she lived in Provo, Utah, Carrollton, Texas, and San Diego, California. At the time of her passing, Jessica was finishing her degree in Genetics from Brigham Young University in Provo. Jessica was genuinely curious about the world around her and about others. She possessed a voracious thirst for knowledge, she was a creative problem-solver, and she was an excellent student. Her passion for genetics changed the life of her family when she played a profound and instrumental role in reconnecting her grandfather, Chuck Walton, with his large, loving birth family.

Jessica was kind, caring, thoughtful, empathetic, smart, and funny. Her eyes often sparkled with spirited mischief, and her infectious humor could be outlandish and silly as well as incisive and witty. She loved to drop a quirky quip into conversation for shock and awe. Yet her bright smile combined with her gentle voice communicated warmth and compassion. She made every room brighter and every conversation more engaging.

Jessica is a creative soul. She was an accomplished pianist, a talented dancer, and a closet singer who could never stop harmonizing. She heard harmony in every melody, which paralleled how she interacted with family and friends—always supporting and giving, and rarely taking. Jessica was a passionate reader, a masterful writer and poet, a world-traveling cultural guru, a beach and wave-loving coastal dweller, and a prolific baker and experimenter in the kitchen. She always looked forward to spending time with her sister Laura and her brother Joshua. She chose to spend her time with family above all else and cherished time with her parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
