Heber Littlefield

Heber Delano Littlefield, 86, passed away on September 30, 2019 in Lehi, Utah. He was born January 19, 1933 in Tropic, Utah to Ellis Waldo Littlefield and Ida Riding Littlefield. He married Beverly Devey on June 18, 1959. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George temple on June 21, 1960.

Heber loved gardening and roses. He loved being outdoors fishing, camping and hiking. This started from a young age when he would roam Bryce Canyon. Growing up in Tropic, Bryce Canyon was his back yard and he has always loved that area. In 1951 he and his family moved to Henderson, NV.  He was drafted in 1953 for the Korean war. He served in the Army in the Baffin Islands near the Arctic Circle until he was discharged in 1955. He was in the Army stationed up in the Arctic Circle during the Korean War. He had many different jobs, one of them being a Park Ranger at Lake Mead.  He was also a school teacher for 25 years in Henderson, and was well loved by his students. He worked with Scouts and the youth off and on for over 50 years. He received the “Century Member Award,” from the Boy Scouts of America in 1989. He went to girl’s camp for many years and loved it.  After he and Beverly retired, they moved to American Fork. He loved the mountains in the Wasatch area. When he was 67 he hiked to the very top of Mt. Timpanogos with his son Dwight and daughter Anita. This hike is a cherished memory for both Dwight and Anita. He loved taking pictures and was rarely seen without his camera around his neck. He has taken thousands of pictures over the years. He worked (volunteered) as an ordinance worker at the Mt. Timpanogos temple for almost 20 years in his retirement. He has a deep love of his ancestors and has written many unpublished books about their lives. He has also written his own personal history. Many ancestors have been blessed by Heber’s work in Family History.

Heber loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He would type weekly letters to his children, “News from Headquarters,” even when it was difficult to type. He wrote these weekly letters for over 30 years. He loved his wife Beverly dearly; she was his queen. He always opened the doors for her and filled the car with gas. He was always such a gentleman. Heber was the kindest, most gentle soul you ever met and will be missed greatly by everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.

He is survived by his wife Beverly, his children: David (Tiffinie) Littlefield, Carl (Shannon) Littlefield, Gregg (Denise) Littlefield, Dwight (Jennifer) Littlefield, Anita (Joseph) Daines, 24 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Jack Littlefield and a sister Marjana Swainson.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Ellis Waldo, Ida Riding, a brother Terrance Waldo Littlefield, and two sisters, Nedra Culp and Monna Lewis.

Funeral services will be held, Friday, October 4, 2019 at 11 am in the American Fork 26th Ward building, 975 North 60 East, American Fork.

A viewing will be held Thursday from 6-8 PM in the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork and Friday at the church from 9:45-10:45 AM.
