Frederick S Keetch, 75, died on September 27, 2021 in Highland, Utah. Fred passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Fred was born on June 28, 1946 in American Fork, UT to Frederick A. & Naomi Steele Keetch.
Fred grew up in Pleasant Grove and was a true Viking. He served his Senior year as Student Body President and graduated in 1964. After high school Fred worked for the Forest Service while going to college. He later went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in history and secondary education, and a Master of Arts degree in secondary education both at BYU. Fred taught US History at Indian Hills Middle School for 30 years and had a great influence on those he taught. He served in the Army Reserve from 1966-1998 and spent several summers away in Korea and other countries. He was a very patriotic person and was proud to serve his country. He later went on to work for M-Tech as the VP of Instruction before finally retiring in June 2011.
Fred met his “Sweetheart” ReNae Beck while out dragging Center Street in Provo with friends. They fell in love getting married on September 5, 1969. They soon started their family settling in Alpine, UT where they lived for 45 years. Fred faithfully served in many church callings including Scout Master, Elders Quorum President, Stake Financial Clerk, and several bishoprics.
Fred was a true outdoorsman. He loved taking family trips in the summers stopping at every historical marker on the way. He enjoyed camping and hunting with his family and made many memories doing what he loved. He could talk for hours about his buffalo hunt or the bear he took down in Elk Ridge. Fred always had a horse or two in his pasture and he loved spending time riding with his kids.
Although the last three years have been difficult for Fred while missing his sweetheart, we are comforted knowing that he is in the arms of his Father in Heaven, free from any confusion, and reunited with his wife and other loved ones.
Fred is survived by his children; Brandon & Cyndie Keetch of American Fork, Tammany and Brett Hansen of Centerville, and Jed and Shannaly Keetch of St. George. His family grew to include twelve grandchildren and three great granddaughters. He is also survived by his brothers Keith Keetch and Scott Keetch. Fred was proceeded in death by his parents and his wife ReNae.
