“Ginger”

Ginger, 87, passed away peacefully at her home, on November 1, 2021 of natural causes, and surrounded by her loving family.

Ginger was born on August 7, 1934 in Kingman, Arizona to Lewis Cardon Ricks and Dorothy Jennings Campbell. She grew up in Bakersfield, California and was very proud to call herself a “California Girl”. She graduated from high school and then graduated from BYU in Early Elementary Education.

She married Kenneth McCoy on October 07, 1955 in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. Together they had 5 children and divorced. She married Kenneth Hunter on March 22, 1968 and together had one child. It was later solemnized in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. Combining their families they raised 12 children.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different callings including a 6 year mission at the Dan Peterson School.  She was also a Temple worker in the nursery at the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.

She was a very hard worker to provide for her family. She worked at DHI, Bank of American Fork, and found her true calling at Geneva Steel as the first IBM computer programmer for payroll. She later retired from Geneva Steel.

Ginger was very passionate about serving her community. She served on the Arts Council, the Cemetery Council, the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and Jr. Arlita. She loved performing and singing in many of the local shows and programs. Ginger was also very active in many political platforms, such as; State delegate, campaign managing, and city council. She was always looking for ways to serve others and the community.

She is survived by her children Mike (Karen) Mccoy, Kimberly McCoy (Peter) Eastwood, Steven (Claire) McCoy, Terry McCoy, and Lisa Hunter (Danny) Tanner, and her step children, Linda (Larry) Lloyd, Kerry (Carolyn) Hunter, Kathy Hall, Ronald (Becky) Hunter, Jeff (Nancy) Hunter. She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Hunter, and daughters Kathy McCoy Langevin and Karen Hunter.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the American Fork 20th Ward, East Stake Center Bldg. 825 E. 500 N. Viewings will be held on Thursday, Nov. 4 from 6-8 at Anderson & Sons Mortuary 49 E. 100 N., American Fork and from 9:45-10:45 AM prior to the funeral at the Stake Center. Interment in the Am. Fork City Cemetery.
