Brian Carlile

September 15, 1978 — August 14, 2022

Brian Wayne Carlile born September 15, 1978 in Provo Utah, passed suddenly in his sleep while camping with his family and the siblings he loved so dearly, in the mountain that he loved. Brian returned to his Father in Heaven August 14, 2022.

Brian moved with his family to Orem, Utah when he started first grade at Cascade Elementary school. He was a happy, curious and good kid. He was always smiling and a good student but he did enjoy teasing his siblings and had a witty sense of humor. He loved learning and figuring out things. Brian started playing video games and learning about computers, where he built multiple desktop computers from scratch as a teenager. Brian's house was the place where you would always find about a dozen of his friends playing all kinds of games, including video games. To this day, the same gang of guys connections are as strong as ever and includes their spouses and families. Brian graduated from Orem High School in 1997.

At age 19 he decided he would serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During the medical examination, the doctor discovered osteosarcoma in his right tibia. The surgeons removed the cancer requiring a total knee replacement but the surgery had damaged the tendons controlling the foot and ankle movement and could not be repaired. The next 15 months were spent in St. Marks Hospital with chemotherapy 1week on and then 2 weeks off. He always found the strength to get through all the treatments. Brian endured 2 more knee surgeries. The latest in January to repair damage to the femur that the implant caused over the decades. Brian's hope was this reconstruction would help him walk better but also remove the constant pain he had endured since the first surgery. To his disappointment, the surgery was not successful and he was scheduled for another operation on August 24. Despite all the trials and pain, he kept his witty sense of humor and big smile, enriching everyone around him without them knowing how severe his trials were.

After recovery from the first operation, he pursued his love of computers working with several companies as IT support and some web design. Through mutual friends and his guy gang, he met a beautiful Brazilian girl, Raquel Duarte. Cupid shot his arrow and they were married on September29, 2006. Raquel was the love of his life! They started their life together in Lehi, Utah as Brian continued learning about computer programming. He enrolled at Utah Valley University where he studied computer science and received a Bachelor of Science degree, putting himself through school while working and starting their family. Despite the cancer, they had 3 wonderful children. After graduation, Brian landed his dream job with Microsoft Corporation as a software consultant where he worked for the past 15 years. He truly loved his job working with multiple government agencies, large corporations and many talented people. He loved the challenge of each project but also loved the continual learning and growth.

Brian is a faithful active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings but especially loved doing activities in the church he could do with his children. Brian and Raquel were sealed together along with their children in the Salt Lake temple July 2010.

Brian is survived by his beloved wife Raquel, children Jade, Taylor and Allyson. His parents Wayne and Beverly Carlile. Siblings Alan (Michelle) Carlile, Nathan (Ilse) Carlile and Alesia (Shem) Valentine. Services will be held at the Highland 27" ward chapel 6411 W. 11800 N. Highland Utah Saturday August 20, 2022.
