Tina Wang

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tina Marie Adkins Wang, a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother who left us too soon on August 12, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah, after courageously facing many chronic health challenges. Tina was born on November 24, 1955, in East Liverpool, Ohio, to Jerry Foy Adkins and Jean Marie Hallett Adkins.

Tina's life was full of love, family, and music. She married her best friend, David Paul Wang, on December 3, 1977, in Alliance, Ohio, and their bond was later solemnized in the Washington DC LDS Temple in 1979. Together, they created a home filled with laughter and warmth, a haven where their children, Jennifer (Bradley) Clark, Matthew Wang, and Samuel (Piper) Wang, were nurtured to grow and thrive. Tina's greatest joy was in the moments spent with her beloved grandchildren: Preston, Hannah, Addison, Everly, and Lennon.

Education was deeply important to Tina, and through her diligence she earned a full scholarship to Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio, where she received her Bachelor's degree in Music. She went on to share her passion by teaching music in elementary schools and offering private piano lessons. When Tina was 13 years old she won the state spelling bee in Ohio. In 1974 Tina was honored as Pottery Festival Queen at the beloved Tri-State Pottery Festival in East Liverpool, Ohio, an accolade that celebrated both her local roots and the community's rich traditions. Her regal presence that year not only reflected her grace and charisma, but also underscored the strong connection she had with her hometown and its celebrated heritage.

In 2006, Tina's culinary skills shone when her recipe "Hurrah for the Pumpkin Pie" took home the grand prize in the Lion House Pie Competition, delighting judges with a recipe that perfectly blended flavor, tradition, and creativity.

A gifted pianist, music was an integral part of Tina's life, echoing through her home and her spirit. She shared her talent not just as a performer, but as a loving influence on those around her. Tina also created beauty with her hands through crafting and cross-stitching, filling her home with handmade treasures. Her creativity was a reflection of her generous heart, always giving and spreading joy.

For ten seasons, Tina and her husband, David, shared their remarkable voices as members of the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, performing and touring together with the ensemble and bringing world-class choral music to audiences both near and far.

Tina expressed her love of the gospel through her musical compositions and heartfelt performances. Her songs were not just a reflection of her musical talent, but also auditory evidence of her strong testimony and love of the living Christ.

As a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Tina was always the first to volunteer her time, talents, energy, and love to serve her fellow brothers and sisters. She served in various callings such as ward organist, primary chorister, primary president, Young Women's presidency, and Relief Society Compassion Service Leader.

Tina was also an avid supporter and volunteer leader of the Girl Scouts of America. She was always the first to teach the girls new camp songs and hold sing-a-longs. Tina touched many lives with her kindness and spirit, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.

Tina is survived by her loving husband, David; her children; her grandchildren; and her beloved siblings, Danny, Jerry, Joel, and Chuck Adkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, who she loved dearly. 

To honor Tina's life, funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Alpine Mountainville 1st Ward, located at 98 East Canyon Crest, Alpine. Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM that same day, allowing space for shared memories and love before we celebrate her life together. Tina will be laid to rest in the Highland Cemetery, a final resting place where her spirit can continue to bring peace to those she loved.

Tina's legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, reminding us all of the beauty of love, music, and sheer joy in everyday moments. She will be profoundly missed.
