Terry Gasser

June 10, 1951 — September 21, 2023

Terry E. Gasser, age 72, beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend passed away peacefully after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. He left this earth on September 21, 2023 at his home in American Fork, Utah surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 10, 1951, in Payson, Utah to Ralph A. and Virginia Lundell Gasser. He married Dorothy Lou Colton on May 12, 1972 in the Provo Temple.

When he was a small child, the family moved from Payson to the American Fork area. His family instilled in him a strong work ethic and he spent his life applying that in everything he did.

His height earned him the nickname "Big T" and as a mighty Caveman at AF High he played football and was active in FFA.
After high school he served in the National Guard.

He was an avid outdoorsman and horseman. He took meticulous care of his animals. He loved camping and hunting, especially with his family. He loved to go on adventures and always left places better than he found them.

He could fix anything and was a self proclaimed "jack of all trades and master of none" although everyone knew he could fix whatever was broken.

He belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had a firm testimony of Jesus Christ. He helped shape the lives of boys in the scouting program for decades. He served in the bishopric and high council. He was a service missionary for 3 years at Oakcrest Girls Camp which brought him much joy.

He retired from Geneva Nitrogen Plant after nearly 40 years of employment.

His retirement was spent traveling with good friends and working on projects at home.

Family was the most important part of his life and spending time with them brought him the most joy. He was our rock.

He is survived by his wife Lou, of American Fork and 4 children: Patrick T of Salt Lake City, Sam (McKay) of American Fork, Wade (Carly) of Pleasant Grove and Katie (Ian) of Riverton and 8 grandchildren. Additional survivors are sisters Joy Woods and Jan Horsley, and brother Troy Gasser. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Clay Gasser.

Funeral services will be held Thursday September 28, 2023 at 11:00 am in the American Fork 25th Ward, 300 North 100 East.  A viewing will be held at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 am prior to the services.   Burial in the American Fork Cemetery.
