Terri Laycock Covington

February 28, 1961 – June 20, 2026

Terri Ann Laycock Covington passed away peacefully at home on June 20, 2026, surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer.

Terri was born on February 28, 1961, to LeRoy K. Laycock and Margaret Ann Martinez. She grew up and attended schools in American Fork, Utah, and throughout her life also lived in Wyoming, Alaska, Oklahoma, and the Boston area.

She worked in the medical field as a phlebotomist, where she formed lasting friendships throughout her career. She retired in 2024.

She loved reading, baking, sewing, and crocheting, making sure every new baby who joined the family received a handmade blanket. She loved creating family traditions and celebrating Halloween, one of her favorite holidays. Christmas was also a favorite time of year, and her family will dearly miss the love and care she put into filling each Christmas stocking. She enjoyed camping in the Uintas and spending time at one of her favorite places, Flathead Lake, Montana, with her sweetheart, Cameron. She adored her dog, Bentley, and treasured the companionship he brought her.

One of the greatest joys of her life was being a grandmother to Stella. The bond they shared brought immeasurable happiness to her, and the love between them was evident to everyone who knew them.

She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Terri is survived by her daughter, Kimberli (Brook) Strelich; her granddaughter, Stella; her partner, Cameron Baxter; her brothers Lester Molyneux (Laureen), Lynn Mecham (Karen), Robert Mecham (Dorothy), and David Laycock (Sharon); her sisters Barbara Mitchell (Rick Harvey) and Tacy Pifher (Louis); along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael Smith; her parents, LeRoy K. Laycock and Margaret Ann Martinez; her brothers, Michael Mecham and Ron Mecham; and her little dog, Bentley.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Terri’s doctors, caregivers, and hospice nurses for the compassion, comfort, and care they provided throughout her journey.
