Teddy-Jo Headrick

January 31, 1946 — May 27, 2025

In Loving Memory of Teddy-Jo (Taylor) Headrick January 31, 1946 - May 27, 2025

Teddy-Jo (Taylor) Headrick, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, and faithful disciple of Jesus Christ, passed away alongside her eternal companion, Richard "Dick" Wyant Headrick, on May 27, 2025, in a car accident in New Castle, Colorado. She was 79 years old.

Teddy-Jo was born January 31, 1946, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, to Harry Gregg Taylor and Lois Jean Trostle. At the time of her birth, her father was serving overseas in World War II. Her name, as unique and cherished as the woman herself, tells its own story: while her father was away, her mother began calling her "Teddy," simply because she liked the name. Upon his return, her father, finding the name too masculine, added "Jo"-his mother's middle name, short for Josephine-thus creating the singular name "Teddy-Jo," which she carried with honor and distinction throughout her life.

The oldest of three children, Teddy-Jo grew up with her two younger brothers, Harry Gregg (known as Jack) and David. She graduated from McKeesport High School in 1964 and went on to attend Women's Medical College in Philadelphia, where she trained as a nurse anesthetist.

In 1967, she met Dick, and the two were married August 24, 1968, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple on June 24, 1969. Over the course of their 56-year marriage, Teddy-Jo and Dick welcomed nine children into the world-a family she treasured above all else. She often referred to her children as "the jewels in my crown," a testament to the love and devotion that defined her motherhood.

Throughout her life, Teddy-Jo exemplified both strength and compassion. She worked many long nights as a nurse anesthetist while simultaneously raising a large and active household. She was an amazing cook and known for her large family meals. Her example of love, forgiveness, humility, and selflessness left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

In January 2003, she and Dick served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cape Verde. There, Teddy-Jo provided essential medical care and support to the local population and missionaries, bringing both comfort and healing to many. Their mission was a culmination of a life devoted to service, family, and faith.

Teddy-Jo is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Lois. She is survived by her nine beloved children-Richard (Leslie), Robb (Celeste), Mark (Randa), Jason (Kariann), Jeffrey (Lorrine), Jennifer (Rich Auman), Julie (Dan Jenks), David (Shay), and Matthew (April)-43 grandchildren, and seven great- grandchildren, as well as her brothers, Jack and David.

A woman of unshakable faith, intelligence, and quiet grace, Teddy-Jo will be remembered for her deep love for her family, her compassionate heart, and her unwavering dedication to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Her life was a light to those around her, and her influence will live on through the generations she nurtured and the countless lives she touched.

She leaves with her eternal companion, Dick, in peace, having completed a life of extraordinary love and service. Together, they leave a legacy of faith, resilience, and devotion that will continue to bless their posterity for generations to come.
