Shirley Rae Gray

In Loving Memory of Shirley Rae Gray

April 22, 1935 - September 30, 2023

Shirley was born in Lehi, Utah to Alvah Summers Adams and Sarah Alice Reese Adams. She married Donald Armstrong Gray February 14, 1957 in the Salt Lake City Temple. 

Shirley was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was a member of the 8th Ward in the Central Utah Stake in American Fork. Shirley loved the Lord and shared her testimony through word and deed. She served with her whole heart in whatever capacity she was called. Shirley enjoyed working in leadership and other positions. She also truly loved working with her sweetheart as an ordinance worker at the Provo and Mount Timpanogos Temple. 

Shirley had many jobs in her lifetime, working in banks, Meadow Gold Dairy, and the lab at American Fork Hospital, but her favorite job was that of being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She and Don were all about family and they raised their children loving God, the outdoors, sports, and anything they could do together. 

Shirley will always be remembered for always putting others needs first and was a shining example of enduring to the end. She is survived by her three children: Sharon (Nick) Nelson, Orem; Pamela Gray, American Fork; Jay Don (Alisha) Gray, Highland; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sweetheart Don, her brother Keith (Melba) Adams and all her beloved in-laws. 

Funeral services will be held Friday October 6, 2023 at 12:00pm in the American Fork 8th Ward Chapel, 320 N 100 E, American Fork, UT. There will be a viewing at the same location from 10:00am to 11:45am, prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the American Fork cemetery. 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the caring people at Envision Home Health and Hospice, the staff at Welcome Home, and Shirley's many friends and family who visited daily.
