Sarah Susan Garner Seel died peacefully in Eagle, Idaho on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022. She was born August 16, 1951 in Florence, Arizona to Murl and E. Elizabeth (Moorhouse) Garner. She was the youngest of their four natural children. Her parents later adopted five Korean orphans. She was raised in Florence, Arizona on a cotton farm and consequently had an immense love of animals and everything outdoors. As a child, she was a member of the Girl Scouts and the International Order of Rainbows for Girls where she developed a love of serving her neighbors and friends. She was an avid horseback rider and stayed busy playing softball and cheering for her highschool. Summer days she loved to water ski the canal, China Wash, behind her VW bug with her siblings and friends. In 1969 she was crowned homecoming queen at Florence High School her senior year and was beloved by all.
In October 1972, she was married to Richard Warren Seel, Jr., whom she was married to for over 40 years. Susan was a devoted mother of four and raised them in various towns in California. Susan became a registered nurse in June 1993 and loved her work at Mount Diablo Hospital in the GI lab for many years.
Susan had an immense love for adventure, history, and culture. She was fortunate to have traveled the world with her husband, children, and close friends. She was an exceptional cook and filled her home with loved ones and good things to eat. She was an avid quilter and made several quilts over her lifetime. She adored her 18 grandchildren and spoiled them with trips to Disneyland and slumber/pool parties. In her later years, she spent her time back-packing and camping. Her love of animals meant that she always had several pets and treated them like her children. She is survived by her dog, Lucy and her cat, Dina.
She is survived by her daughter Julie Wright and son-in-law Matthew Wright, daughter Jodie Monson and son-in-law David Monson, daughter Lori Cottrell, son Trey Seel and daughter-in-law Kendra Seel, 18 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, ex-husband and friend Richard Warren Seel, Jr. and the following siblings: William Garner, Robert Garner, Jill Gilbreath, Pete Garner, Michael Garner, Merry Ann Davis, Kerry Douglass, Patricia Poteet.
A celebration of her life will be held at Anderson Funeral Home, 6141 W 11000 N, Highland, UT 84003 Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 10:00 am. She will be laid to rest in the American Fork, Utah Cemetery.
