Robert S. "Bob" White, age 68, of Lewisville, Texas, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015, at his home.
He was born December 22, 1946, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Robert Nelson White and Frances May Meidlinger White. Bob married Connie King on June 4, 1971, in the Logan Utah LDS temple. Together, they raised eight children.
Bob earned a PhD in organic chemistry from Washington University in St. Louis in 1980, after completing earlier degrees at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, and at Utah State University in Logan, Utah.
He worked as a food scientist for Frito-Lay from 1979 until retiring in 2005. From 2006 through 2014, Bob taught chemistry at Coppell High School. For many years, he also taught chemistry courses at Richland College in Dallas.
Bob was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He took a two-year hiatus from his college studies to serve a Spanish-speaking mission for the Church in New Mexico, Wyoming, and West Texas. Throughout his life, he served in many teaching and leadership positions in local congregations.
Bob was very patriotic and had a profound regard for the Founding Fathers and for the Constitution. He was a dedicated family historian, enjoyed sports, and was an avid runner for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; by his children, Robert E. White (Sharon); Andra Hepworth (David); Thomas K. White (Doris); Forrest N. White (Abbie); Wendy Thatcher (Jon); Kaci White (Tom Wickman); Summer Stuetz (Daniel); and Logan S. White; by eighteen grandchildren; and by his sisters Jean Howe and Carol Erdmann and brother, Kenneth M. White.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 8, 2015, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4000 Nazarene Drive, Carrollton, Texas. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, Utah. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Missionary Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at ldsphilanthropies.org.
