Robert Blaine McCullock

Apr 15, 1953 — Jul 15, 2026

If as a tiny child Bob McCullock went missing for any length of time, his parents knew to look for him at some construction site nearby, where they would find him sitting quietly on the ground watching the structure go up, fascinated by the building process. It was a life-long fascination.

Born to Lois Jean and Louis Blaine McCullock, April 14, 1954 in Kansas City, Kansas, Robert Blaine McCullock was a builder from the very beginning. He passed away on July 15, 2026 after a six-year battle with multiple myeloma, leaving behind so many beautiful things that he spent his life creating.

Bob grew up in Liberty, Missouri with his sister Val (m. Kim Eardley), his sister Sharon (m. Danny Klein) and his brother Chris (m. Christina McCullock), all of whom survive him. After high school, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in England, following which he attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he met and fell in love with fellow student, Dianne Hust. The couple married on August 19, 1978 and began building a family. Six beautiful daughters! As each new child was added to the family structure, someone would express their condolences to Bob - how sorry they were that the baby was another girl! How sad they were that he didn't have a son! But Bob was never sad or sorry. He was delighted with his girls. The perfect "girl dad", he let them "style his hair" and willingly accepted from them all the candy they didn't like in the spirit in which it was given. He was a rough and tumble construction guy; and at the same time, an old-fashioned gentleman, considerate and kind. He was a man of few words, quiet and contemplative but also funny and playful. He was not embarrassed if someone heard him wish his kids a "super sparkly day".

Dianne, Bob's wife and partner, his sweetheart, his best friend and companion and diligent caregiver survives him along with those magnificent daughters they raised, Shannon (m. Mike Siebach), Erin (m. Shad Morss), Carly (m. Anthony Caccavale), Lettie (Tyson Schudde), Allison (m. Garrett Anderson), and Payton.

Bob leaves behind a significant number of actual buildings as well, beautiful houses in Utah County that he worked on with meticulous care throughout his career. He was a skilled craftsman in all areas of the building trade, a perfectionist, and a master finish carpenter. He loved to take the family to the Parade of Homes with him where he would point out features and fine details that made his buildings special. Bob was a worker! He was never content to be idle. Even after cancer took so much from him, and his body could no longer tolerate a construction site, he wanted to go to work, so he found himself a part time job at Dollar Tree. He truly enjoyed his time working at Dollar Tree, where he found not only meaningful work but also lasting friendships. He cherished his coworkers, and it was clear they cherished him in return. Our family has been deeply touched by the outpouring of love, kindness, and support from his Dollar Tree family during this difficult time.

A private family service will be held at American Fork Cemetery. Those wishing to express their sympathy are invited to honor Bob's memory through an act of kindness.
