Robert Hall

September 5, 1934 — July 17, 2023

Robert Kay Hall passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023 at the age of 88. He was born September 5, 1934 in the Old Lehi Hospital, to Oscar Hurst and Nida Adamson Hall. The eighth of eleven children, he was raised “on” Highland where he helped on the family farm. As a young boy he was given a half acre where he grew cucumbers which he sold to the Utah Pickle Company to earn money for school clothes. He attended American Fork High School and was the first of his siblings to graduate, something he was very proud of. He served seven years in the Utah National Guard. As a young man Robert spent time working in Long Beach, CA at the Ford Motor Company. He worked in the sheet metal trade eventually starting his own side business. Robert worked for over 40 years at Geneva Steel completing a millwright apprenticeship through Utah Technical College while employed. He also served the community of American Fork as a volunteer firefighter.

He married Roberta Kaye Varney on September 5, 1958 in American Fork. They were later sealed on June 25, 1975, in the Provo Temple. They had four children together and raised them in American Fork. After his retirement, Robert and Kaye served a mission in Nauvoo for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where they made life-long friends with many other senior missionaries. Serving together was a highlight of their marriage. Robert loved the outdoors and spending time with his family hunting and fishing. He was an amazing gardener and won many awards at local fairs. Each year his family looked forward to his delicious tomatoes. Robert loved history and enjoyed restoring antique engines. He was a member of the Utah Antique Machinery Association. He was instrumental in restoring the pioneer era cabin of his great-grandfather, Alexander Adamson, which was relocated to Robinson Park in American Fork.

Robert is survived by his children: Kurt (Cindy) Hall, Torri Hall, Nicole (Chris) Hansen and Jason (Angela) Hall; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and his brother Keith (Colleen) Hall. Robert was preceded in death by his wife Kaye, his parents, and nine siblings.

In his last days Robert was lovingly cared for by his daughter Nicole and her family as well as the employees of Valeo Home Health and Hospice.
