Randall Johns

December 23, 1949 — July 12, 2020

How can one possibly sum up the life of our dear husband, father, and grandpa, Randall Scott Johns, in a limited number of paragraphs?

Randy touched so many lives. He loved so many and so many loved him.

Born December 23, 1949 at Hamilton Air Force Base, Hamilton, CA to Richard and Norma Johns. He grew up as a child in a military family alongside his siblings Kathy, Jackie, and Richard Jr. They lived in many different parts of the world due to his father’s career in the Air Force. From Holland to Monterey, California and his best friends were his siblings, especially his brother Rick. Due to the constant moving around family has always been important to him and his love for his extended family in St. John’s Arizona influenced his desire to one day raise his children in one place where they could grow roots and develop lifelong friends.

He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Great Lakes area, returned home, and headed off to BYU. There he met the love of his life, Peggy Ann Haws who would become his eternal companion.

Randy & Peggy were married for time and all eternity in the Provo Utah Temple on Dec. 22, 1972. His desires were recognized as they raised 7 children in American Fork, Utah.

He was a selfless person with a heart willing to give all he could to family, friends and strangers. He was a true disciple of Christ, his ultimate exemplar and he always looked for ways to serve and love others.

His grand-babies were his favorite people and all 20 had a special bond with their Grandpa Randy. They were his biggest accomplishment and favorite casual topic of conversation.

He left this earth surrounded by those he loved on Sunday, July 12, 2020. Leaving behind his wife; Peggy, children; Jennifer (Michael) Schmuhl, Sally (Gabriel) Sermon, Traci (Andrew) Chase, AmiLynn (Jamie) Moroz, Rusty (Ali) Johns, Spencer (Kylee) Johns and Riley (Hilary) Johns.

Randy had a special place in his heart for all he crossed paths with, including but not limited to animals. He was a dog’s best friend and his list of fur-grandbabies includes: Rink, Maverick, Jack, Sunday, Yue, and Timber.

Our hearts are broken. We are left without this wonderful man on earth, however, we are comforted we will see him again...as families are forever! Randy always said, “We have only so many sunsets in our lives, enjoy each and every one.

Thank you so much for all your love and prayers and support. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, there will not be a viewing or funeral. We will be holding a graveside service at the American Fork Cemetery on Friday, July 17th at 2:00 pm.
