Rance Jones

May 5, 1945 — May 30, 2022

Rance Richard Jones began his next “big project” early Monday morning, May 30th, 2022.  Dad passed away of natural causes at his home in Highland, Utah as he was comforted by his loving wife of almost 16 years, Jody, his daughter, Shelli Winward, and an exceptional friend and caregiver Michelle.  Rance came into the world brimming with a tenacious, go-getter spirit and a compassionate heart.  Both of these gifts guided his 77 years as his wheels were always churning about his next big business challenge or his next effort in helping those he loved, or anyone else that was placed within his path.

Dad was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Dad was solid in the simple testimony that he had as Jesus Christ as his Savior, he would often say “the secret to it is…the Savior has already taken care of everything, we just have to keep going, do our best, and it will all work out.”

Dad was born to Richard Greenwood Jones and Verda Belle Cox Jones on May 5th, 1945 in Richland, Washington.  He was the third of five children, having two sisters, and two brothers.

Rance was the father of seven children, Marci, Shelli, Stephani, Randy, Melani, Jeff, and Kenton.  In 2006 the stars finally aligned again and Dad was blessed to meet and marry Jodeen Sands Demille. They were sealed together August 18th, 2006 in the Timpanogos Utah Temple.  Through this marriage, Dad gratefully gained three more children, Robert, Kristi, and Mike.  Together they now have 25 incredible grandchildren, with number 26 coming this September.  The list of Dad and Jody’s kids doesn’t end there, as children married and brought others into this clan, these much needed “kids” were automatically promoted to full status and welcomed with open arms and great love.

Dad was always “just checkin’ on ya” to see if he “can do anything for you?”  Even when he was confined to his bed over the last several months, he kept making his regular trademark “quick” calls to his kids and to ask if he could help in any way. He always ended these calls with a “sure love honey” or “I’m sure proud of you angel” or “love you son!”.

Rance was unyielding in his work ethic, usually holding multiple jobs.  Dad was passionate about helping others battle cancer and other life-affecting illnesses and has devoted his time for many years to helping develop a natural supplement that strengthens the body’s immune system.

Dad loved his family and always had big dreams!  Dad was uniquely rare!  He was quirky, he was determined, he was loving, he was thoughtful, he was always optimistic, he was a believer, he was tireless--he was absolutely one of a kind.  He made this journey both interesting and fun.  He had the knack for creating memories and great stories out of random everyday experiences without even trying that will bring smiles for generations to come.  Dad definitely did things in his own way up to the very end.  We couldn’t be more blessed to be part of your journey Dad!  We love you and miss you so much!
