Peggy Tyra was joyously welcomed into the loving arms of Merrill and Maurine Allen and siblings Kathleen and David on June 13th 1950. Raised in Pleasant Grove on a fruit farm she learned the value of hard work early. When she was young she loved her cats and she loved to read. Her books became a great comfort to her when at the age of 10 she was forced to deal with the death of her mother.
Mom's greatest joy in life was her family. Mom met dad at a football game and were married June 20th of 1969 in the Manti temple. They lived most of their married life in American Fork and raised 6 children and 1 grandchild.
Mom was a brilliant writer. She wrote wonderful short stories, parables, poems, a cookbook and a historical novel all with wonderful wit and humor. Her writing brought joy and touched the souls of so many. Her talents were not limited to writing. She could knit, cook, sew, can, make candles, spin wool, quilt, and even figure out most math problems and was a Chess wiz. If she didn't know how to do it, she would figure it out. If we as children didn't know how to do it she made us figure it out and we love and praise her for that now.
Mom was a pillar of faith never missing an opportunity to bear testimony of our savior and of his atonement and the absolute reality of the resurection, to her family. She always did her best to serve others as he would.
Mom is survived by Michael, Sonia, Jared (Julie), Aaron (Amanda), Joshua (Jenessa), granddaughter Lauren, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, daughter Serena and Granddaughter Asher. Funeral services will be held Monday July 20th at 11:00 in the American Fork 3rd ward building at 165 North 350 West. Viewing will be held from 9:45-10:45 at the address above. She will be interred in the Pleasant Grove cemetery.
