In loving memory of Merrilee MacDougall Dickerson, a beloved wife, mother, and teacher, who passed away on October 29, 2023, in Highland, UT. Born on May 7, 1947, in San Luis Obispo, CA, Merrilee's compassionate heart touched the lives of many and her legacy will forever be cherished.
From a young age, Merrilee had a passion for teaching. Her creative and innovative approach to education made learning exciting for her students. For an impressive 17 years, she lovingly taught Laurels, influencing multiple generations with her knowledge and guidance. Additionally, Merrilee served as a dedicated Primary President and Relief Society President for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Merrilee possessed a unique talent for writing and documenting cherished memories. She created beautiful scrapbooks that captured the growth and joy of her eight children throughout their lives. These scrapbooks brought laughter and nostalgia to her family, fostering a deep sense of connection and appreciation for the moments they shared. She also had a remarkable ability to remember everyone's birthdays and would send personalized birthday cards, showing her thoughtfulness and love
Left to remember Merrilee's exceptional life is her devoted husband, Richard Dickerson, who stood by her side throughout their journey. She also leaves behind a legacy through her children: Troy (Cassy) Dickerson, Amy (Steve) Brandon, Ryan (Jill) Dickerson, Scott (Stacy) Dickerson, Neil (Brook) Dickerson, Darcy (Chris) Beus, Tad (Cara) Dickerson, and Russell (Trish) Dickerson. Her impact extended to her thirty grandchildren, who carry her love and teachings in their hearts. Merrilee is survived by her sister, Ann George. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Allan MacDougall and Bruce MacDougall.
A Funeral Service honoring Merrilee's life will be held on November 6, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Highland 7th Ward Chapel, Highland Utah East Stake, located at 5212 W. Country Club Dr Highland, UT 84003. Prior to the service, a family gathering will take place at 10:00 am at the same location. Following the ceremony, Merrilee will be laid to rest in a burial at 6200 West 11000 North, Highland, UT 84003, on November 6, 2023, at 1:00 pm.
Merrilee MacDougall Dickerson's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her. Her passion for teaching and her unwavering love for her family will continue to inspire future generations.
