Mary Peck Strong Obituary (1930 - 2021)

Our beloved mother, Mary Peck Strong,  passed away October 29, 2021, in Lehi, Utah,  at the age of 91.  Mary was born October 18, 1930. in American Fork, Utah, to Charles (Chick)Lawrence and Anna Maybelle (Green) Peck.   She married her sweetheart Wendell Fred Strong on June 2, 1950, in the Salt Lake Temple and spent the next 68 years dedicated to the love and support of her husband and 4 children.    Mary was preceded in death by her father, Charles, mother Nan, oldest sister Evelyn Mae Peck , Dorothy June Johnson,  and son Roland Strong.  She is survived by sons Randy (Lahna), Scott (Jodi),  Deryl (Allison), and daughter Kathy.  Mary has 11 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.

It was difficult for mom when dad moved the family to San Diego, California after he got his degree in Accounting at BYU.  She only had 9 years to spend with her father,  Chick, who passed away from complications of Parkinsons in 1940.  Some of her favorite memories with him are holding his hand as they would walk the sidewalk in front of their house in American Fork.
Mary's family was so very important to her.  She loved having her kids and their families over for cookouts, as well as big Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.  She never missed a school play, recital, graduation, or performance by any of her grandchildren.  She adored her animals as well, adopting and loving as many as she could.  She and dad were fortunate enough to be able to travel to many countries, and to follow BYU sporting events as avid fans.   Mom and dad were both very gifted musically,  and initially met performing in operettas in junior high and high school.   Together she and dad served as temple workers in both the San Diego Temple, and the Mount Timpanogos Temple.  Mary's beautiful smile,  quick sense of humor, and compassionate spirit will cause her to be greatly missed.

Services will be held Monday, November 15 at 11:00 am, at the Alpine North Stake Center, 1125 North Alpine Blvd, Alpine.  Viewing 9:45 to 10:45 prior to the funeral service.  Burial will be in Alpine City Cemetery.
