MaryKay Chaus

"Hey Buddy"

1962-2026

Our Buddy, MaryKay Chaus, 63, passed away peacefully, surrounded by a room full of people who loved her, on August 21, 2026. She was born on October 20, 1962, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

MaryKay lived at USDC until she got the opportunity to move into Danville Services' residential programs in December of 1985. Danville has had the greatest pleasure of serving her every day since-forty-one years!

MaryKay had a heart of gold and was a great friend to those who were closest to her. MaryKay loved to travel and was the best travel buddy. She put the FUN in vacation. Some of her favorite vacations were to Disneyland, Disney World, and on a Mexican Riviera cruise, where she found a love interest named Sasha from Canada who spoke French. They remained pen pals for a couple of years.

MaryKay loved to work and get paid. She would often say, "No work, no pay!" She was employed by Danville Services, where she had many opportunities. She worked on many enclaves, including Mervyn's Distribution Center, Provo Housing, lawn care, and some janitorial work.

When MaryKay would greet you, it always started with "Hey Buddy." You would most likely see her wearing flip-flops (or carrying them) with a watch in the other hand. She was very competitive in bowling and Special Olympics. She always liked to be first in everything she did, including first in line. She loved dancing and loved it when she was the center of attention-and we let her have it.

MaryKay loved Mickey Mouse, going on activities, spending time with staff and their families, basketball, Halloween, Christmas, her birthday, Patty Baby (her bear), Curious George, concerts, and dancing. She was the light to so many of us.

MaryKay is now reunited with her best friend, Janice Bouche. They were two peas in a pod. They had a bond that nobody will ever understand except them. They looked out for each other and loved each other like sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Anderson and Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork. A viewing will be held prior from 9:45 to 10:45 A.M. at the mortuary.

Interment will be held at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her best friend, Janice.

Thank you to Danville Services and the many staff over the years who served MaryKay through all stages of her life. A special thank you to Karen Shattuck for being such a great friend and Support Coordinator to MaryKay all these years.

MaryKay, you have done more for us and our families than we could have ever done for you.

We love you, Buddy!
