It is with heavy hearts but also warm memories that we announce the passing of Mark Hurst Talbot, aged 66, who left us peacefully on February 17, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family. Mark was born on December 29, 1959, in Provo, Utah, to Cleone Stewart Talbot and Melva Arlene Hurst Talbot. He dedicated his life expressing love to his family and friends and exploring his passions.
Mark would be the first to tell you that the best decision he ever made was to marry his wife, Stephanie Lindsay, on May 25th, 1984. Together they raised their children Danielle, Alex (Maddie), and Morgan (Jess) in Alpine. As a father, he was devoted and engaged, spending countless hours helping with homework, preparing and participating in Scouts, and leading by example of how to be a good man. For the last 4 years, his greatest joy was being Bompa/Papa to his cherished grandchildren, Cameron, Virginia, Waverly and Wesley.
Mark is remembered for many things – he was an incredible father and grandfather, a loyal friend, a talented chef. His stories were part of the family soundtrack; he had an endless archive from every season of his life and he shared them generously, even if everyone in the room had heard them several times.
Mark loved cooking for his family and would make birthday feasts for each family member. When asked for recipes, he could only respond that he combined a few recipes, along with some of his own creative twists - a trait he picked up from his mother, who was notorious for the same thing. Mark was a loyal Chicago Cubs and BYU Cougars fan, through the good years and the bad. He loved music and went to hundreds of concerts. He loved working for Adobe and enjoyed working with his daughter and his many friends.
Mark is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie, their children, grandchildren, and his siblings Margaret Erickson and Paul Talbot. He is reunited in spirit with his parents and his siblings David, Morgan, Kent, and Diane Talbot.
To celebrate Mark's life, a gathering will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel, located at 6141 West 11000 North, Highland. Please join us as we recount how Mark made us laugh and celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man.
