Marilyn Yvonne Faux Wiest, peacefully left this world on May 21, 2026 at the age of 95, in Tooele, UT. After a brief year apart, she is once again reunited with her beloved husband, Jerome (Jerry) Wiest, who passed away May 1, 2025.
Born on May 5, 1931 in Salt Lake City, UT, Yvonne was the second child of Merrill Charles Faux and Edna Michelsen Faux. She is survived by her siblings Charles Faux, Winston Faux, and Annette Anderson.
Yvonne was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had a fervent testimony of Jesus Christ. She also had a deep love for her pioneer ancestry. She spent many hours researching her family history. She poured over booksand historical records in an effort to link the past to the future. Yvonne's ancestors were members of the original pioneers into Utah and had deep ties to the establishment of the Salt Lake valley, including the trolley car system (Trolley Square). She was proud of her pioneer ancestry and worked tirelessly to preserve that legacy. Her love of the Savior was also evident as she faithfully served in various capacities for the Church, including her work with Jerry as service missionaries for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
Yvonne was a trailblazer; a pioneer in her own time. Yvonne attended and graduated from the University of Utah. She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the New England mission, the same mission that Jerry served in. She accepted an invitation from Dr. Russell M. Nelson to work for him and helped him operate the revolutionary heart-lung pump. Many years later, Yvonne started a thriving floral business. Her attention to detail and eye for balance, coupled with her creativity brought her much success and accolades. Yvonne also loved to teach and found opportunities to teach young children English as a second language. None of these experiences, however, could exceed her love for and devotion to her family. Yvonne and Jerry married in the Salt Lake City temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on March 17, 1930. As Jerry completed his education and began his early career, Yvonne found herself frequently relocating her growing, young family. Each of the four children was born in a different state (Pennsylvania, Texas, California, and Utah). They travelled extensively, both domestically and abroad, with Jerry fulfilling teaching assignments in Phoenix, Atlanta, Germany, England, Spain, and Hong Kong.
Yvonne made each of these locations home and helped to create many lasting memories. She is survived by her four children: Merrilee Aldrich; Jonathan (Rachael) Wiest; David (CoraLee) Wiest; and Jenni (Doug) Christensen; and her 10 grandchildren.
On her new adventure, Yvonne has undoubtedly set out her finest China and most exquisite towels. She has probably sourced the best upholstery for her couches and drapes. Her heavenly home is filled with flowers and the sound of Jerry's sweet music. At last, she is reunited with her loving husband, cherished parents, and treasured ancestors. Together they watch the unfolding of their great, eternal legacy.
The family would like to thank Amanda Willes and Lindsay Brewer and the rest of the nurses and providers with Quality Hospice for the care they gave to Yvonne in her stay at the Our House assisted living facility. They treated her with grace and kindness, and kept the family involved in their care of Yvonne. We would also like to thank the care provided to her by the staff at Our House. They helped Yvonne with a genuine level of attentiveness and personal connection.
