Marielle Morelli

January 2, 1920 — September 17, 2014

Marielle P. Morelli, 94, our loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away September 17, 2014. She was born January 2, 1920, in Sandy, Utah to Frank Park and Thelma Dalton Park. On September 7, 1940, she married Henry (Enrico) Morelli in Farmington, Utah. Marielle and Henry spent the early years of their marriage moving about but lived most of their married life in American Fork, Utah, where they raised their family.
In the early 1960's Marielle began working at the Utah State Training School as an attendant and in 1962 was selected by the Board of Directors to attend college classes to become a Behavior Technician. She spent the next 23 years working in the Psychology Department of the Training School. Marielle always enjoyed traveling. She and Henry made many trips to visit friends and especially enjoyed traveling to visit with their children and grandchildren. After Henry's passing, Marielle traveled with friends, seeing many places around the United States. She also became a member of several different clubs and always enjoyed the activities and events associated with them. Marielle was very proud to be a member of the Daughter of Utah Pioneers, having petitioned under Mary Elizabeth Veach, a great great grandmother who walked across the plains from Winter Quarters, Nebraska, to Salt Lake City, in the fall of 1853. In 2009, Marielle moved into the Charleston living center in Cedar Hills, Utah. She always commented that she loved living there and that everyone treated her with such loving kindness and respect.
Marielle was preceded in death by her husband Henry, sons Robert and Gerald and grandson Jeff Morelli. Survivors include son Dennis (Karyn) Morelli, daughter Colleen (Mike) Thornton, daughter in-law Cheryl Morelli; grandchildren Curtis Morelli, Jennifer (Thornton) Sorn, Jo Dean (Thornton) Jordan, Amber (Morelli) Renstrom, Ricardo Morelli, Christina (Morelli) Wadley, Anthony Morelli , Raylene (Morelli) Waldron and nine special great grandchildren, Shane and Shelby Waldron, Giavanna and Riley Sorn, Brooklynn and Joslynn Wadley, Jack Jordan, Lucia and Roman Morelli, Cameron Renstrom and many loving nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
As Marielle wrote in her life story which she presented to her family in December, 2008, "I have always tried to be a kind person and a good neighbor and I think God returns kindness to you. He has returned immeasurable love to me through the lives of my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Each holds a special place in my heart."
