Lorie Ricks

Lorie Jean Ricks, 66, passed away peacefully at her home on August 19, 2023, after a courageous two-year battle with metastatic breast cancer.

She was born on August 30, 1956 to Lloyd Max Kendall and Jeannene Maughan in Payson, Utah. She married Kay Porter Ricks, on June 20, 1974. They were later sealed in the Provo Temple on September 30, 1978. They showed others how to love endlessly until Kay’s untimely passing in 2016.

Lorie had three sons; Wynn, Joel (Danielle), and Tyson (Felicia). She also had the opportunity to help raise her younger brother, Joey Kendall. Those four boys were her world. She was blessed with six grandchildren that she loved dearly; Sarah, Porter, Alyssa, Adriana, Jiraiya, and Oakley.

She spent her younger years in Nephi, Utah, and her teenage years in Logan, Utah. She was the oldest of four children. She spent her youth helping out on the family farm, riding horses with 4-H, and baking. She graduated from Logan High School in 1974.

Lorie was an excellent cook, whether she was cooking for her family, weddings, or teaching the scouts. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, crocheting, canning, and gardening. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in primary and devoted 40 years to the Boy Scouts, helping numerous boys achieve their Eagle Scout.

Lorie is survived by her mother, children, grandchildren, her siblings: Jeff (Teri), Leslie (Kerry) Devey, Joey (Becky). She had numerous nieces and nephews who brought her much joy. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, her father, and her in-laws; Joel and Hazel Ricks.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM at 507 West 700 North, American Fork, Utah. A viewing will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 6-8 PM at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork and Saturday at the church from 9:45-10:45 AM. Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery following the funeral services.
