Linda Johnson Peterson, 77, passed away in Salt Lake City on May 6, 2019. She was born on August 13, 1941 in Oakland, CA, to Joseph Richards Johnson and Viola Emma Lauper.
Linda spent most of her childhood in San Francisco, surrounded by many Lauper cousins and a few Johnson cousins. While attending UC Berkeley across the bay, she met the dashing and tall David Peterson. They were married August 11, 1961 in Los Angeles and raised their family in the Bay Area, primarily in Pleasanton. She served in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving the women and young women of the church. Not only did she share her love of music with her children, but she also taught piano lessons for years and is beloved by many students (or at least their mothers) for her patience with students of all levels of talent. She found great pleasure and challenge in researching her Family History. Later in life she enjoyed serving as a missionary with her husband David to Argentina, Southern California, Chile and Spain. In between she was happy grandmother, mother, aunt, and friend to many in her homes in Pleasanton, Idaho, Arizona, Oregon and Utah. Her sweet, friendly disposition will be remembered by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband David just six weeks ago. She is survived by her children: Dave Peterson Jr., Lanae (Steve) Hooper, Elisa (Kurt) Kennedy, Doug (Summer) Peterson, foster daughter Tessie (Wilson) Crosby, 18 grandchildren, her sister Joann (Paul) Miner and brother JR (Susan) Johnson, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
