Lenise Ward Herman, 69, of American Fork, Utah, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Lenise was born on October 20, 1956, in Denver, Colorado, and spent her early years in Longmont, Colorado. She later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she attended Cottonwood High School and enjoyed participating in the pep club. Those years left her with cherished memories she carried throughout her life. As a child, she loved visiting her grandparents' farm in the San Luis Valley in Colorado, where the wide-open fields shaped her love of family.
Lenise met the love of her life, Ron Herman, while attending Brigham Young University. They were married on October 10, 1975, in the Salt Lake Temple and had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary-an extraordinary milestone marked by unwavering devotion. Together, they built a life in American Fork, where they lived nearly all of their married years and raised their family.
A devoted and deeply loving mother, Lenise poured her heart into raising her six children. She also worked for many years in medical clinics and rehabilitation facilities, serving in various roles where her dedication, compassion, and strong work ethic were evident. Her family relied on her steady, trusted knowledge- especially when it came to all things medical.
Lenise had many interests that brought her joy throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening and took great pride in keeping a neatly maintained lawn. She loved reading, following celebrity culture, and had a deep appreciation for history. Preparing meals for her family-particularly during holidays and special gatherings-was her way of expressing love. Above all, she had a deep connection to her ancestors and family history. She loved sharing stories and teaching her children about them.
Those who knew Lenise will remember her for her lightheartedness and her ability to laugh easily. She was meticulous in maintaining a clean, orderly home-a trait she passed on to the next generations. She also had an impressive memory for dates, numbers, and names, which often amazed those around her.
Her greatest joy, though, came from her family-especially her children and grandchildren, who were truly her crown jewels. Her loyalty to them was unwavering, and her love constant.
Lenise is survived by her loving husband, Ronald D. Herman; their children-Christie (Brent) Smith, Collette (Rory) Smith, Chandra (Scott) Shumway, Craig (Natalie) Herman, Carrie (Jordan) Bayles, and Candace (Aaron) Leonhardt-and 13 treasured grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, LeeAnn (Wayne) Bennion and Laraine (Jonathan) Lawes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett L. Ward and Lura LaVon Shawcroft.
Services will be held at Anderson and Sons Mortuary in American Fork, Utah on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation beforehand from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
