LaRae Scott

LaRae Nelson Scott finished her journey in the flesh early Saturday morning, January 29, 2022 at her home in Chino Hills, California. She was born on November 28, 1936, the second daughter to Lillian and Leo Nelson of American Fork, Utah.

Raised in American Fork, LaRae was a fierce defender of everything AF. However, she fell in love with Max, a young man from Lehi and made peace for sixty-four years of marriage with the ruffian from the other side of the tracks. They had three children and moved to Chino, California where they raised a family and made life-long friends.

LaRae lived life with passion. If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing right. Whether it was helping Max through college, her kid’s school work and sports, never-ending Road Show practices, church callings, tennis, sewing dresses for Val, yard and house work, preparing for a party, or her addiction – shopping, she put in her best effort and expected that especially from her kids. Not sure she ever missed a performance or event from Val, Derek or Sterling. She supported Max while he served the Lord as well as his career at Boys Republic. She did all this and was still there to answer, “I’m here!” when we kids got home and yelled, “Mom! I’m home.”

Our mom was preceded in death by her father, mother, sister Betty Brady, and daughter Valerie. Survived by her husband Max, children; Sterling, Derek and Leslie Scott, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be held 1:00 PM American Fork Cemetery, 600 North Center Street, American Fork.
