LaRae Forbes

June 23, 1934 — May 19, 2024

Our loving mother, LaRae King Forbes, passed peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of May 19, 2024, at the Ashford Assisted Living in Springville, Utah.

LaRae was born June 23, 1934, in Cleveland, Utah, the youngest of four children born to Robert Vere and Mary Emmeline Mortensen King. When LaRae was in the 5th grade, her dad, who was a coal miner, got a new job and the family moved to Sunnydale, Utah, now East Carbon. She attended Dragerton Jr. High and Carbon High School where she participated in the school choir and Majorette club. After graduation, she moved to the Beehive Annex in Salt Lake City, Utah. One of the girls living there suggested that she write to her brother, Allen, who was serving a mission in the British Columbia, Canada mission at the time. They wrote each other the last eight months of his mission and upon his return, they dated for a short time, got engaged, and were married on February 15, 1957, in the Salt Lake City temple.

After getting married, Allen and LaRae moved to Lehi, Utah, where LaRae was able to be a stay-at-home mom to the four children they had while living there. When Allen had to go back to school for six months for his job, they sold their house and purchased a new home in American Fork, Utah, when they returned. They had their last two children (a set of twins) and lived there for 57 years.

LaRae loved supporting her kids in their events; watching her boys play baseball and attending all the parades and competitions for her daughter in the flag and rifle corp and later the twins in marching band. Now that her grandkids are grown, she also loved going to their piano and dance recitals, soccer games, and marching band competitions.

LaRae's talents and hobbies include singing, dancing, sewing, crocheting, embroidery, and puzzles.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings in Primary, Young Women's, and Relief Society. She also served two missions to the Bishop's Storehouse with her husband, Allen.

LaRae spent the last two years living at the Ashford Assisted Living in Springville, Utah. She loved all the activities, games, crafts, outings, entertainment, and made many friends during her time there. We are deeply grateful to all the wonderful staff who always treated mom with kindness, respect, caring, and compassion. Everyone there became her family.

LaRae is survied by her children, Scott Forbes, Connie (Jeff) Davis, Janis (Jim) Salisbury, and Barbara (Roger) Pack; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren (with one on the way); and five great-great-grandchildren (with one on the way). She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary; siblings, Donald, Vauna Beth, and Marjorie; her husband, Allen; and sons, Mark and Bruce.

Services for LaRae will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in the American Fork 9th Ward chapel, 673 East 300 North. A viewing will be held from 9:45-10:45 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in the American Fork Cemetery.
