June Alice Krainik

June Krainik, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, at the age of 95.

June was born December 7, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Michael and Clara. She married Wally Krainik in 1952. She lived a long and full life characterized by intelligence, adventure, and an enduring curiosity about the world around her. June lived through nearly a century of remarkable change. Those who knew her will remember a woman who was creative, resilient, practical, and pragmatic. She approached life with determination and was rarely afraid to take on something new. She raised six children and took pride in seeing them grow into capable and successful adults, with families and full lives of their own.

June had many interests throughout her life and believed in staying active. She and her husband, Wally, were accomplished skiers and served together on ski patrol. She also enjoyed hiking, swimming, and spending time outdoors. June and Wally owned a lake house, where she enjoyed life on the lake and the many activities that came with it. Her garden and plants were another particular source of enjoyment and fulfillment.

June is survived by her children, Cindy (Larry) Braby, Greg (Annette) Krainik, Sandy (Kip) Apostol, Deena (Dan) Vogl, and Dail (Sue) Krainik, as well as her grandchildren and 84 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Clara, her brother Donald, her husband, Wally, and her son, Clead.

June's 95 years were marked by family, activity, curiosity, and a determination to remain engaged in life. She leaves behind generations of family and a lifetime of experiences that speak to the strength and substance of the woman she was. She will be remembered simply as June—strong, capable, curious, and entirely her own person.
