Jon Remington

Jon Harold Remington, affectionately known to many as "Big Guy," passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, in Highland, Utah, surrounded by his loving wife and six children. He was 67 years old.

Jon faced a decade-long battle with Parkinson's, cancer, and Alzheimer's with unwavering dignity and courage. Though tremendous challenges marked his journey, he met each one with strength and grace.

Born on May 28, 1958, in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, Jon was the seventh of nine children born to Duane and Elaine Remington. He grew up working hard on the family ranch and spending magical summers at the beloved Remington cabin in Waterton Lakes National Park-places that shaped his character and deep love for the outdoors.

After high school, Jon worked as a seismic technician in the Arctic, braving -50° temperatures-a testament to his grit and determination. He later served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Las Vegas, Nevada, where his faith and love for people deepened.

Shortly after returning home, Jon married his sweetheart, Kim North. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and adventure-raising six children and creating a legacy of love.

Jon's educational journey led him to Brigham Young University, where he earned a degree in Agricultural Economics and Business. After graduation, Jon and Kim moved to Southern California with their young family in search of adventure, opportunity, and-as Jon liked to say in jest-"fame and fortune."

As a proud Canadian and U.S. resident, Jon built a distinguished career in commercial real estate, leaving a lasting mark as both a broker and entrepreneur. He was a lifelong learner with a sharp mind and a special knack for "pondering the mysteries" of life.

Jon's commitment extended beyond business. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, faithfully serving in various capacities throughout his life. He found deep peace and strength in his relationship with God, which anchored his calm, confident presence.

He loved the outdoors-whether on a horse, skiing or hiking a mountain, tending animals, or on the ice playing hockey. Jon was a rancher, a skier, a woodworker, a teacher, and a lifelong cowboy. He had a gift for fixing, creating, and elevating the world around him. Strong and steady, yet gentle and kind, he made everyone feel seen, valued, and loved.

Jon is survived by his wife, Kim (North) Remington; his six children, Jeremy & Kazia (Remington) Brown, Brett & Kyley (Remington) Caywood, Jonathan & Breanna (Phillips) Remington, Joshua & Jessica (Harmon) Remington, Jaron & Ellie (Smith) Remington, and Jefferson Remington; and his beloved 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by his five sisters, Anne Skelton, Bonnie Kleinmark, Holly Sandberg, Terri Nelson, and Rebecca Remington, as well as two brothers, David Remington and Mark Remington.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Elaine Remington, and his older brother, Michael Remington.

"You're practically perfect," he used to say to his children. The truth is that he was practically perfect. A man of strength and grace, Jon Remington leaves a legacy of deep love, quiet wisdom, and a life well-lived.

A Memorial service will be held on June 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a "Greet the Family" from 9:15 to 10:30 AM. Services will be held at the Highland Utah 19th Ward, 9621 N 6000 W St., Highland, UT 84003.
