Jo Lynn Pearson

Jo Lynn Shelby Pearson, our loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend passed away on July 5, 2022, in Murray, UT after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 77, surrounded by her loved ones.

Jo Lynn was born on June 27, 1945 in El Paso, Texas to Joseph Shelby and Lora Grant. She enjoyed most of her childhood in American Fork, UT where she spent fun-filled days playing with friends and siblings, loving animals and wearing homemade dresses sewn by her mom.

After Jo Lynn graduated from American Fork High School, she attended BYU and married the love of her life and best friend, Howard Pearson, on Sep 3, 1965 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They met in a seminary class and have fond memories of walking the school grounds, getting ice cream at the creamery, attending school dances and have been inseparable ever since. After graduating from BYU with a degree in education, she taught second grade for a few years and decided to stay home to raise her three beautiful children.

Jo Lynn spent the majority of her married life in Las Vegas, NV and Riverton, UT building relationships with the dearest of friends and sharing a contagious laugh.

She loved to grow fruits and vegetables in her garden and found joy surrounding her home with a variety of beautiful flowers. She enjoyed sitting on the porch, going on neighborhood bike rides, making arts and crafts with family, baking homemade rolls, playing board games, and going on long road trips. Jo Lynn was also an avid bowler and enjoyed a good game. You would often catch her humming a tune and had a passion for music and the arts. You would never find a better listener and loved a good conversation. She was happiest spending quality time with family, especially with her grandchildren, and most vacations were centered around that. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a variety of callings with Primary being an absolute joy.

Jo Lynn is survived by her eternal companion, Howard Pearson; their children Michael (Maisie) Pearson, Loralee (John) Demes, Matthew (Tonnie) Pearson; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; her siblings Kathyrn Bogue and Brent Shelby. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Shelby and Lora Grant.

The service for Jo Lynn Pearson will be held on Saturday, July 9, at 11AM at the Mindi Meadows Ward, 12852 South 3200 West, Riverton, Utah 84065. A private burial will be held in the American Fork Cemetery near her parents.
