Joann Lamb Nell, 99, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, in Pleasant Grove, Utah. She was born on June 11, 1927, in Joplin, Missouri, to Russell Lamb and Beatrice Francis Mitchell.

Joann married Russell Eugene Baugh on July 9, 1946. They later divorced. On September 25, 1954, she married her sweetheart, Douglas Sherman Nell. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Joann was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she had the opportunity to serve a mission in Cannes, France, with her beloved husband, Doug. Their missionary service was a special chapter in their life together.

Joann lived a full and active life and had a wonderful curiosity about the world around her. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed sharing meals and going out to eat with her friends and family. She loved singing, sewing, dancing, genealogy, and cooking. She was always tinkering with something, whether working on a project, figuring out how something worked, or simply keeping her hands busy. Her creativity and energy remained with her throughout her life.

Joann also had a remarkable work ethic and loved being around people. She worked as a greeter at Walmart until the age of 98, continuing to greet and visit with people long after many would have retired. Her warmth and willingness to stay active were a testament to her independent and spirited nature.

Family was an important part of Joann's life. She is survived by her children, Steven Austin Baugh (Evelyn), Richard Douglas Nell (Christine), Laura Ann Maxwell, Jack Bryan Nell (Gayle), James Russell Nell (Sandra), and Adam Phillip Nell; her sister, Eunice Dunkle Carver; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Sherman Nell; her son, Mark Callaway Nell; her grandson, Tylan Jesse Nell; and her son-in-law, Lawrence Maxwell.

Joann leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, hard work, creativity, and love. She will be remembered for her many interests, her willingness to keep learning and doing, her love of travel and good food, and most of all, the love she shared with her family and friends. Her long and remarkable life touched many people, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
