Jerome (Jerry) Douglas Wiest, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, will be remembered and celebrated on May 9, 2025. Jerry peacefully departed this world on May 1, 2025, at the Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins, Utah, surrounded by love. He was born on March 18, 1930, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Carl Douglas Wiest and Thelma Pauline Williamson Wiest. He and his beloved wife, Marilyn Yvonne Faux, were married in the Salt Lake LDS temple on March 17, 1960, marking a joyful milestone of 65 years of marriage that they recently celebrated together.
Jerry's life was woven with service and dedication. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he held many callings throughout his life and served several missions, including in New England, a welfare service mission in Asia, and a 10-year mission with the Tabernacle Choir. He passionately shared his talent for playing the piano, bringing joy to countless people over the years.
As a lifelong educator, Jerry's thirst for knowledge led him to earn two master's degrees from prestigious institutions: Harvard Business School and Carnegie Institute of Technology, where he also completed his PhD in 1963. His teaching career spanned institutions such as UCLA, Rice University, and the University of Utah. He was also fortunate to share his expertise as a visiting professor in countries including China, Nigeria, Germany, Spain, England, and Hong Kong.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne; his children Merrilee Wiest Aldrich, Jonathan (Rachael) Wiest, David (CoraLee) Wiest, and Jennifer (Douglas) Christensen; and ten treasured grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Joy Heiner and Don Wiest.
