Janice Fillmore Brady

Janice Fillmore Brady  returned to her Heavenly Father on September 16, 2026 surrounded by her loving children in the home her husband built. She was born just past midnight on January 1, 1934 in Dawson, Yukon Territory, Canada to Albert Leland and Clara Reid Fillmore. She spent her early years with her brother Reid Fillmore playing and hunting in the wild Yukon before moving to Utah in her elementary years.

She graduated from Spanish Fork High School in the class of 1951. Janice was a social butterfly and kept in close contact with many of her high school friends through her entire life and continued to make life long friends no matter where she was. She attended Brigham Young University where she met and fell in love with Morris Brady.

They were married in the Manti temple on January 23, 1953, a bliss that lasted 67 years. They were blessed with 9 children through their marriage. Janice was an excellent homemaker and a skilled cook whose recipes have become treasured heirloom treats that continue to be passed on through each generation. Her progeny continues to bloom and grow leaving behind a legacy of love that is as unique as each person that has been woven into the Brady tapestry.

As a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served as a Relief Society President and a Primary President. Hours of her life were dedicated to indexing records for family history. She instilled her beliefs into her children while also bestowing upon them a love of learning–she kept a healthy love of reading, devouring books even into her last days. She also left behind a legacy of acceptance. Janice showed, with a Christ-like understanding that loving one another and loving thy neighbor means to truly love others no matter what, even accepting things that you may not fully understand at the time but loving them regardless.

Janice also proudly served in the Provo Temple before embarking on five missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with her husband: 1991-1992 Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (with a reassignment to South Carolina); 1993-1994 Los Angeles, California; 1997-1999 Melbourne Australia; 2001-2002 Washington D.C; 2004-2005 Charleston, West Virginia. In 1996 after the California mission, Janice and Morris assisted with the Mount Timpanogos Temple’s open house and continued to serve at Mount Timpanogos Temple after returning from their many missions.

Janice spent her days reading and watching a variety of game shows, of which she had a spirited passion but not so passionate as when she watched the Utah Jazz, BYU, or her Kansas City Chiefs. She was a master Wizard player and could wipe the floor with her competitors in most card games.

She is survived by 8 of her children; Sylvia Ashby, Karalee Gorham (Cliff), Cheryl Wynkoop (Dan), Elaine Cummings, Roger Brady (Elaine), Lee Brady (Helena), Karen Tolman (Roger), Becky Le (Tuan), her son-in-law Joe Uharriet, her 46 grandchildren, her 88 great grandchildren (with 4 on the way), her 3 great-great-grandchildren (with 1 on the way), her brother Reid Fillmore, sister-in-law Dovell Beebe, and a brother-in-law Clifton Brady. She is preceded in death by her husband Morris Brady, daughter Shauna Uharriet, and great-grandson Daniel Peyton Wynkoop.

Janice Fillmore Brady will be deeply missed and has left behind a legacy of love, faith, and connection that will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched. 

The family would like to thank the many ministering angels of the American Fork 13th Ward for their loving service and kindness to our mom over the years. 

A public viewing will be hosted at Anderson and Sons Mortuary (49 E 100 N American Fork, UT 84003) on September 20, 2026 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held the following morning at the American Fork 13th Ward Building (975 North 60 East American Fork, UT 84003) on September 21, 2026. There will be a viewing from 9:45 AM until 10:45 AM with a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the American Fork Cemetery.
