JaNae Nicholes

Orpha JaNae Batchelor Nicholes returned to her heavenly home greeted by Ross, Sandy, her parents, and many others on November 6, 2023. JaNae was born in her parents’ home in American Fork on September 20, 1936 to Gilbert N. and Orpha R. Batchelor.

She lived in American Fork her entire life and loved it. She found her first and only love in Ross Nicholes whom she married in October of her senior year in high school. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple. Music was another love of JaNae’s. She especially loved Sousa marches played by the band. She passed her love of music to her children and grandchildren. JaNae was the first of four generations to be part of the American High School band program. It is a legacy of which she is very proud.

JaNae attended beautician school and spent 40 plus years providing hair care to family, friends, and clients. She never kept a written appointment schedule of her clients. She commented  a few times over the years that she often knew her clients were pregnant before they did.

Christmas was one of her favorite times of the year. She decorated her house that would rival the jolly old elf himself. Every year JaNae would choose just the right ornament to give to the grandchildren. It is something they looked forward to every year.

JaNae is survived by Colleen (Sandy’s wife), Todd and Jeanne, Juli and Dave, Bartley and Jen, and ALee and Jason. She leaves behind 21 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.

A viewing for JaNae will be held at Anderson’s Funeral Home on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the LDS chapel found at 381 South 300 East in American Fork beginning at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9:45 – 10:45 AM.
