Isabella Kendall

December 25, 1938 — July 26, 2025

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Isabella Porch Kendall, returned to her heavenly home and her dear husband on July 26, 2025 at the age of 86.

Isabella was born on December 25, 1938 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland and is the youngest child of Frederick John Porch & Janet Moore. She graduated from Shawlands Secondary School in 1954 at the age of 15. She was called to a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Scotland Mission, where she faithfully served the people of her hometown and surrounding areas from 1958 to 1959. After returning from her mission, she made the difficult decision to move away from her home country and family to the United States to be able to fulfill her eternal goal of being married in the LDS temple. Upon arriving in the United States, Isabella worked as nanny for a family with young children in New York City.In 1960, she moved to Utah, and in 1961 while working at the Genealogical Society in downtown Salt Lake City, she met a handsome young man, Richard William Kendall. . She married him in the Salt Lake City temple on March 14, 1962, and they raised five children together.

For the next 35+ years, Isabella was the nurturer and caregiver to her five children as they grew up, until they slowly, one by one, moved away from home. During those 35+ years, Isabella was always there for her children, showing them love and devotion as only a mother can. Whether providing advice, attending sporting events, helping with homework assignments, relationship guidance, providing home-cooked meals, or signing off on Boy Scout merit badges that were questionably earned by her middle child, Scott, her love for her children knew no limits. Upon reflection, however, it got close to the limit a few times. For instance, when her oldest son, Bradley, injured himself right before a family vacation, or that the time she set up a trap for her youngest child, Michael, so he'd fall down a flight of stairs. Other than those, though, her love knew no limits!

She held many church callings over her lifetime, including serving in the Young Women's Presidency, as Primary President, and Relief Society President. A few years into retirement, Richard and Isabella served a year-long mission to the Washington, D.C. temple, a place of many cherished memories. The two of them also served faithfully in other temples and as Church Service Missionaries at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah.

Isabella is survived by her five children, Heather Ann Jensen (Scott), Bradley Carl Kendall (Michelle), Scott William Kendall (Michelle), Vicki Lyn Aragon (Larry), and Michael Joseph Kendall. Sixteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren were blessed to have been born during her lifetime and brought great joy into her life She was preceded in death by her sweetheart of almost 58 years, Richard William Kendall, her parents, her siblings, and one grandchild, Avalon Kendall.
