Howard Joseph Snow, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 5, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on December 29, 1938, Howard lived a life filled with devotion to family, faith, hard work, and simple joys.
The second to the youngest of ten children born to Harold and Lydia Snow, Howard grew up in St. George, Utah. His childhood was marked by long days on the family farm, running around the temple grounds with his siblings and friends-a place that became a special part of his life even from a young age-little league games, and hours spent working in his cousin's furniture store, E.B. Snow Furniture. These early years shaped the character and work ethic that defined him throughout his life.
Howard was a graduate of BYU's School of Business, earning a bachelor's degree in finance. His professional career was spent in transportation and logistics, where he worked for companies including Milne Truckline, Western Gillette, and Roadway Express. He took pride in his work and brought reliability and dedication to everything he did.
On February 20, 1965, Howard married Margy Marie Bingham Snow. Together they built a beautiful life and raised four children: Alisha, Tonya, Heath, and the caboose, Sabrina. After Margy's passing in 2001, Howard met and married Carol Harper, with whom he shared many wonderful years.
A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Howard faithfully served in many callings throughout his life. As a young missionary, he served in the Paraguay-Uruguay Mission and later had the opportunity to serve another mission with his wife, Carol, in the Santiago, Chile Mission. Together, they worked with the Perpetual Education Fund to help others pursue education and opportunity.
Howard courageously battled cancer over the last several years, facing his illness with unwavering strength and quiet dignity. Cancer ultimately took his ear, but in true Howard fashion, he found humor in the challenge. He loved showing people how his ear could come on and off and would delight in demonstrating just how realistic it looked, often drawing wide-eyed amazement from children and bringing hearty laughter to those around him.
Howard was a man of many passions. He was an avid journalist who wrote in his journal daily, leaving behind a beautiful record of his life. He was a dedicated stamp collector who not only built his own remarkable collection but also inspired several of his grandchildren to start their own. He was known as the fastest walnut cracker around and was always quick to share-he never missed an opportunity to offer a bag of walnuts to anyone willing to take them. He proudly proclaimed himself a lifelong, loyal supporter of Pepsi, humorously noting his decades of financial "contributions" to the company. He was also famously known as the "rubber band uncle," always cutting up old tires to create rubber bands for legendary rubber band fights at family reunions.
Howard deeply loved his time at the family cabin and found great joy in fishing, especially at Smith Morehouse Reservoir, where he shared peaceful, memorable days on the water with family and friends.
Howard was a passionate BYU fan who rarely missed cheering on his beloved Cougars. You could always see him sporting his BYU blue attire.
Howard's distinctive style was marked by his ever-present polo shirts with a front pocket-perfect for carrying his always-ready to-do lists that kept him organized and prepared for whatever the day would bring.
Howard's playful spirit shone through in his love for Halloween, where he delighted in dressing up and sitting on his front porch to give the neighborhood children a good scare. He also cherished dressing up as Santa Claus at Christmastime, spreading joy and creating magical memories for family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Harper Snow, and his children: Alisha (Jay) Gray, Tonya (Scott) Nielsen, Heath (Tara) Snow, and Sabrina (Nick) Zurcher; and his stepchildren: Sonda (David) Martin, Alan Smith, Charice (Corey) Pate, Stephanie (Chris) Beam, Nicole (Bob) Nelson, and Erik (Cherry) Klauser. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margy Snow, his parents Harold and Lydia Snow, and seven of his siblings.
