Eva Young Shelley Wright

July 25, 1931 — March 20, 2023

Eva Young Shelley Wright passed away peacefully on the morning of March 20, 2023 at the age of 91. She was born on July 25, 1931 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Leonard and Hattie May Young. At a young age she moved to Los Angeles, California. Throughout her younger years, she and her family moved between California and American Fork, Utah, where they finally settled when she was a young teen.

She met her future husband, Glade Shelley, in a high school geometry and algebra class. They were married on June 6, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised four children and when the children were a bit older, Eva returned to school where she got her Bachelor’s degree in Teaching in 1976. In 1981, while still teaching, she began studying for her Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology completed August of 1986. After 17 years she retired from teaching in 1992.

After her husband (Glade) passed, she and her sister, Colleen, were called to a mission in Thailand from February 1999 to October 2000. On Sept 2, 2005 Eva married a longtime friend, Lloyd Wright and where she happily welcomed him and his children into her ever growing family. They were married for 13 years before he passed in 2018.

She spent many hours volunteering with different organizations and in 2001, she was called to be an ordinance worker at the Timpanogos Temple.  Along with serving 5 years as an Inner city missionary.

Eva is preceded in death by her husband, Glade Shelley (1998) and her second husband, Lloyd Wright (2018). As well as her siblings; Orville, Dennis, Norma, Kennie, Colleen; and great grandsons; Dace Olsen and Rorik Barker and great-great-grandson Bennett Mathiesen.

She is survived by her children; Christine Sullivan (Michael), Harold Shelley (Jeneal), Stanley Shelley (Andrea), and Susan Rogers (David); her grandchildren; Steven Sullivan (Amy), Cameron Sullivan (Rachel), Amy McAllister (Aaron), Mark Sullivan, Karen Munson (Neal), Shanna Hardman (Nathan), Shalonna Talbot (Ray), Shantel Barker (Ryan), Shad Shelley (Annie), Ali Pardew (Jon), Alex Hogan (Jo), Atticus Shelley (Meagan), Ben Rogers, and Hunter Rogers (Kylee); her great-grandchildren; Anna, Eliza, Ian, Jacob, Abigail Eva, Grace, Emma, Sarah, Patrick, William, Henry, Felicity, Shamra, Dakota, Devin, Dalton, Ashton, Clayton, Braxton, Jennesse, Eli, Paxton, Harlee (Kyle), Charity, Kelcie, Preslie, Josslynn, Tasha (Ashton) Brinlee (David), Kaydence, Beckham, Easton, Sawyer, Cosette Eva, Adelaide, Bronwen, Daisy, Hadley, River, Sunny and great-great-grandchildren Briley, Kallie, Linkin, Kenzlee, Kanyon, Bronson.

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 at the Anderson Funeral Home in American Fork from 6 PM to 8 PM.  A following viewing will be held on Saturday, March 25 at 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints building at 165 North 350 West in American Fork. Funeral services will begin at 11 AM.
