It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eloise Cooke Rasmussen on July 10, 2026, at the age of 86. Eloise, a cherished mother and grandmother, left this world peacefully at her home in Highland, Utah. Born on February 14, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Cam and Lois Cooke. Eloise was a devoted mother who faced life’s challenges with faith. As a young mother Eloise canned fruit and sewed children’s clothes to support a young and growing family. After being widowed at a young age, Eloise went back to school and then dedicated many joyful years to teaching elementary education.
Eloise loved being with her family- nobody laughed more joyfully than Eloise with her siblings. Eloise loved having family over for meals and you never left hungry and usually sent home with a gift of homemade fudge. For every child and grandchild, Eloise made it a point to sing "Happy Birthday"- a birthday wasn’t complete until getting a call from Eloise. Eloise enjoyed traveling with family including a cross country trip to see the wonders of the United States, tenting at KOA campgrounds and eating meals cooked on a hotplate to stay within budget.
Eloise had deep compassion. She knitted countless baby hats, spent thousands of hours indexing historic records to aid family history research and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints mentoring refugees.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jewell Jensen Rasmussen, both parents, a brother Dallas Cooke and a grandchild Nathan Rasmussen. Eloise is survived by her seven children: Julie (Lee) Foster, Chris (Melissa) Rasmussen, Scott (Rebecca) Rasmussen, Lois (Craig) Nordstrom, Erik (Cynthia) Rasmussen, Kristina Rasmussen and Wesley Rasmussen, brother Gerald Cooke and sister Kathy Holmberg, along with 25 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. We invite family and friends to celebrate Eloise's life together. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Highland 10th Ward chapel, 10962 North 6400 West, Highland, UT 84003. A viewing will take place the night before, Friday, August 28, 2026, in the Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel, 6141 West 11000 North, Highland, UT from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A second viewing will be held from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on the day of the service at the Highland 10th Ward.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Little Lambs foundation for kid’s in honor of Eloise's memory
