Elden Ord

b. September 16, 1913

Elden Laroy Ord, 104, passed away October 2, 2017 in Cedar Hills, Utah. Born September 16, 1913 in Kuna Idaho to Robert James and Erma Lillian Olmsted Ord. Elden was the youngest of seven (7) brothers with (3) sisters. He married Leola May Norton on October 28, 1934. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake, LDS Temple
Elden's Grandparents', Thomas and Eleanor Grant Ord, arrived in the Utah Basin, from England on November 30, 1856, as Mormon Handcart Pioneers in "The Edward Martin Company" and shortly thereafter settled in the Old Salt Creek Fort in Nephi, Utah. His Grandparents', Lewis Chase Olmsted and Margaret Whetsel, had a large cattle ranch near Ely Nevada where his Mother, Lillian Olmsted, was born on January 15, 1878. The Olmsted Family were part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1632 and were among the founders of Hartford, Connecticut in 1636. The Prophet Joseph Smith' 5th Cousin, Frederick Law Olmsted, was the Landscape Architect responsible for the construction and development of Central Park in New York City (also: Boston Commons, Prospect Park, & Chicago World's Fair et.al.).
Elden loved his family and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings including Bishop, Stake President, and 30 years as a Patriarch. He retired from Bank of America after 44 years of service. He was also very active in community service.
He is survived by his children: Claudia Lee (Eldon Clair) McKell, Karen Mae (Kenneth Grant) Stowe, John Elden (Margaret Ann) Ord, Steven James (Linda) Ord, Timothy Reed (Carrie) Ord, 22 grandchildren. 90 great grandchildren, 28 great great grand children and a sister Wanda Stebbins, 97.
FUNERAL SERVICE & GRAVESIDE DEDICATION:
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 2pm at Anderson & Sons Lone Peak, 6141 West 11000 North, Highland, UT. A viewing will be held from 12:45 - 1:45 p.m. prior to the services. Burial will be held on October 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave. Hughson, CA 95326 (209)883-4465.
