Edward Daley

On Sunday, October 25th, 2015 in Alpine, Utah at the age of 83 our beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and Great-Great Grandfather passed away peacefully.
Edward J Daley was born on October 5th, 1932 in Woodside, NY to Andrew Smith and Jennie Wagoun Daley. Edward was the youngest of four siblings. He grew up in Woodside, NY where he attended PS-12 in Queens, NY (Back then they gave the Public Schools Numbers instead of Names) He Graduated at the Top of his class in Vocational Skills. Those who ever knew Dad or worked with him knew he was extremely handy and could fix most anything and if he couldn't find the parts it needed he could fabricate them.
He was drafted in the Army and entered on February 4th, 1953. During that time he did his Basic Training at Fort Dix, in New Jersey. After basic training he was sent to Dugway Proving Grounds in Tooele, UT. He was in "A" Company 2nd Chemical Weapons Battalion. When he was transferred to Dugway Dad didn't know how to drive, he had owned a few cars but was never taught to drive, he would buy the cars with his hard earned money and his older brother would drive him around. One car he owned was a Silver Cloud Rolls Royce Limo. With the help of Virginia and his Sargent that would take him out into the West Desert and taught him how to drive, at this point Dad ended up being in the motor pool. He would Ride the Bus from Tooele into Salt Lake City as often as he could. He used to stay so long he would have to sleep in the luggage racks above the seats so he could get some sleep before returning to the base. In January 1955 one of Dads Sargent's that he ran around with had introduced him to a gal on a double date, who became the love of his life Virginia Petersen Daley. They were married three months later. Two weeks after completing his Military Service on February 3, 1955 he went to work at Kennecott Copper Corp. at the Refinery. Dad retired from there after 30 years of Service. He later worked at Gus Paulos Chevrolet, and for the Allied Development Company.
While he was in the Military he found the Passion for Military Memorabilia and his hobby was formed. He also enjoyed Tropical fish, Hunting, Fishing and tinkering. He was a Life member of National Rifle Association. He loved getting the Family together and laughing. He loved his pets. Dad will be extremely missed by all the lives he's touched.
He is survived by his four children, Debbie (Ralph) McLachlan, Patty (Vahid) Jahromi, Donna (Norbert) Hoppe, and Ed (Becky) Daley, 12 grandchildren, 23 (+1 on the way) great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his Loving wife, Virginia Petersen Daley, Both parents, two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary Lone Peak Chapel, 6141 West 11000 North (Timpanogos Highway), Highland, UT. A viewing will be held prior to the Service from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the American Fork City Cemetery (26 W 600 N St, American Fork, UT).
