Donna, beloved mother, age 85, of Orem, Utah, died on 03 May, 2025. She will be greatly missed.
She was born in Parsons, Kansas on 24 June, 1939, to George Frederick and Zarra Liberty Holman Pefley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Floyd Malan, her parents, her sister, Doris, and her half-brother, Paul. She spent much of her childhood in Reno, Nevada before attending Brigham Young University. There she received her Bachelor's Degree in English Literature, and met Ron, her eternal sweetheart, whose loss she felt keenly since his death in 2013.
As a career mother, Donna raised seven children, instilling in them a love of reading, music, and a fierce sense of right and wrong. She was a skilled pianist, and wrote poems and stories for her husband and her grandchildren.
She was an avid football fan - she watched any game she could, and especially enjoyed watching the BYU Cougars. Donna's service for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was a constant in her life. She spent many decades serving in primary, playing the organ and piano, doing family history, and serving as an ordinance worker in both the Provo and Mount Timpanogos temples. She served 4 Church missions with her husband in Ecuador, Chicago, and twice in the Dominican Republic.
Donna's memory lives on through her children, Cathy (Matt) Brickey, Michelle (Ray) DeGraw, Marina Daniels, David (Marisol) Malan, Laurie (Jason) Lammers, Becci Malan, and Paul Malan. Her influence is also felt by her 31 grandchildren and 32 (soon to be 34) great grandchildren.
