Donald Casey

January 14, 1948 — January 31, 2024

Donald Lee Casey, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on January 31, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on January 14, 1948, in San Gabriel, California, he was the son of Lee David Casey and Irene Edna Ower.

As a young man he bravely served his country in Vietnam after receiving his notification that he was drafted into the United States Army.  After returning from duty Don met and married Linda Starr by the waterfall in Yosemite National Park.

Don was a remarkable man with an incredible sense of humor, known for his boundless energy and mischievous spirit. In his younger years, he delighted everyone with his clever pranks and infectious laughter. His love for his family knew no bounds, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

With a deep passion for the outdoors, Don found solace in nature. Whether it was camping, fishing, hiking, skiing, photography, boating or walking along the beach, he embraced each adventure wholeheartedly. He reveled in the beauty of the world, finding peace and tranquility in its vast landscapes.

Don's generosity was unmatched. He had a unique fondness for giving, often surprising his loved ones with heartfelt gifts on his own birthday or any other occasion he could think of. He found joy in seeing the smiles on their faces and in making each moment special.  His generosity extended beyond physical gifts to gifts of his time.  He coached kids’ baseball and enjoyed passing his knowledge on to the boys he mentored in Boy Scouts of America.

Don dedicated his professional life to the city government, working as a valued Plan Examiner and Computer Services specialist. His meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. He served his community with diligence, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked with.

Don leaves behind his beloved wife, Linda Casey, his daughters Lisa Whitlock and Jennifer (Bryan) Holladay, his six grandchildren: Tatum, Kaleigh, Aspen, Colby, Carson and Carter.  His siblings Greg (Tami) Long and Clydel (Ron) Giannini.  He was preceded in death by his son Sean Michael Casey, his mother Irene and a sister Anita Taylor. His passing will be deeply mourned by his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

To celebrate Don's extraordinary life, a public viewing has been arranged at the Saratoga Springs North Stake Center, 2256 North Providence Drive, Saratoga Springs, UT on February 5, 2024, from 10:30-10:45 am. Following the viewing, a funeral service will be held at the same location at 11:00 am.  Don will be buried in Mesa City Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona next to his beloved son Sean on Friday February 9th at 3:00 pm.

Don Lee Casey will forever be cherished in the hearts of his loved ones. May he find eternal peace and rest knowing that his legacy will live on through the memories he created and the love he shared.
