Delna Louise Brown Peterson, cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah, after a brave fight against an overwhelming health crisis.
Born on June 17, 1950, in Alpine, Utah, Delna lived her life full of enthusiasm and zest, embodying the spirit of a true country girl. While working as a cashier at Dan's Foods, Delna met and fell in love with Jerry Peterson, the love of her life. They were married on July 12, 1995, in Incline Village, Nevada; on the set of the television series, Bonanza, and the Ponderosa Ranch. Their union was later solemnized on her birthday, June 17, 2008, in the Manti, Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Delna embraced Jerry's children, grandchildren and his family members as her own, loving them deeply.
She had a unique passion for life, characterized by her love for shopping for jewelry, antiques, and collectibles. She spent countless joyful hours exploring shops and markets, always on the hunt for that special treasure. Her flair for fashion and love for bright clothes reflected her vibrant personality. Traveling was another of Delna's greatest loves; she relished the adventure of new places and the thrill of participating in powwows and festivals that celebrated culture and community. Whether she was dancing, listening to music of all kinds, or sharing exciting stories about her travels, her infectious spirit left an impression on everyone she met. In recent years, when travel became difficult, she dearly appreciated the visits from her neighbor children, whom she loved.
Delna shared many happy moments cooking alongside Jerry. At the BBQ grill or in their kitchen, laughter and delicious aromas filled the air, along with the sounds of their favorite tunes. Above all else, she cherished her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry; step-daughters, Nicole Doucette (Peter) and Amanda Samuels (Randy); and four grandchildren, Zoe, Abby, Emma, and Tristan. She also leaves behind her brothers, Norman Brown (Judy, deceased) and Gaylen Brown (Dianna); many beloved nieces and nephews; and her constant companion, her loving dog, Munchkin. Delna was preceded in death by her parents, John Alfred Brown and Delilah Harris; her brother Denzel Brown; and her sisters, Johnell Spencer; and Janice Ann Brown.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center ICU staff for their exceptional kindness and support during Delna's final two weeks, as well as to the friends and neighbors who have surrounded them with love.
Join us in honoring Delna's vibrant legacy and the love she shared with all who were lucky enough to know her. Her spirit lives on in our hearts, and she will be remembered not just for the time spent on this earth, but for the joy and love she brought to every moment. Full speed ahead, Delna -your journey continues.
