Daniel Isaac Jensen

May 25, 2005 — June 15, 2025

Daniel Isaac Jensen, beloved son, brother, friend, and resident of Highland, Utah, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the age of 20, due to a brain injury sustained during a longboarding accident.

Born on May 25, 2005 in American Fork, Utah, Daniel is the son of Scott Anthony Jensen and Amy Bingham Jensen. He is the youngest of five children, little brother to Jessica, Connor, Brittany, and Tyler.

Daniel graduated from Lone Peak High School in 2023, and was a student at Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University. He excelled in his classes, and looked forward to pursuing a career in information systems. Daniel was a hard worker, and enjoyed working with friends at Powell Industries and BYU's information technology department.

Daniel was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an Eagle Scout and served faithfully in many capacities, including in Deacon and Teacher class presidencies, and as Priest Quorum Assistant. Daniel longed to serve a full-time mission for the church, but was unable to due to his auto-inflammatory disease, HIDs. He struggled with frequent flare-ups that affected his daily life, yet he rarely complained.

Daniel was athletic and found joy in playing many sports like ultimate frisbee, golf, basketball, flag football, pool ball, skiing, and impromptu wrestling matches with his brothers. He hiked Lone Peak, Mount Timpanogos, and Mount Nebo with his dad and brothers. Daniel especially loved playing on Lone Peak's Ultimate Frisbee team, where he and his teammates won a state championship in 2022, and two national championships in 2022 and 2023.

Regardless of the activity, Daniel was always excited to spend time with friends and family. He was obsessed with BYU sports, and was often found cheering in the stands. Music was an important part of Daniel's life. If he wasn't listening to music on his AirPods, he was blasting it in his car with the windows down. Daniel's sense of style was always on point, and his outfits were never complete without his trademark curly hair and his favorite pair of Nike sneakers.

Daniel will be remembered for his zest for life. He was a light, adding positivity and empathy to every situation. He was a loyal friend, and was always looking for ways to help others. Daniel was a gentle giant at 6 foot 2 1⁄2 inches and was filled with a quiet self-assurance, making him a person that everyone looked up to (both literally and figuratively). Although we will miss Daniel greatly, we know that he lived his life to the very fullest and would want us to do the same. He left no stone unturned and always left people better than he found them.

Daniel is survived by his parents Scott and Amy Jensen, siblings Jessica (Matthew) Swanson, Connor (Samantha) Jensen, Brittany (Ryan) Lacey, and Tyler Jensen. He is also survived by his grandfather Arvid Jensen, nieces Aleia Lacey and Navy Jensen and nephew Boden Lacey, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Daniel is preceded in death by his grandparents Lynetta Kunz Bingham, Robert J Bingham, Mary Olson Jensen, and aunt Lisa Kae Bingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Highland West Stake LDS Church (11605 N 6000 W, Highland, UT 84003). A visitation will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Anderson & Sons Mortuary Lone Peak Chapel (6141 W 11000 N, Highland, UT 84003) and again from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Highland City Cemetery. There will be a live stream and recording of the services as well.

Flowers are welcome, but if you prefer, a donation to Primary Children's Hospital in Daniel's name would be deeply appreciated. We are grateful for the compassionate care he received from the medical team at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.
